Full Job Description
The Technology Business Engineer administers and supports the Apptio platform, data integrations, cost models, allocation logic, reporting, and data-quality controls. The role maintains recurring platform processing, troubleshoots model and data issues, and implements approved enhancements. The engineer works with the Technology Business Manager, FinOps, Finance, source-system owners, and technology stakeholders to deliver reliable, traceable, and decision-ready technology cost information. Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise data engineering solutions, including cloud-based architectures (Azure, AWS) and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks) across complex, multi-domain environments. Strong background in Infrastructure security, Role based access controls, data governance, and cross-system integration. Strong experience in developing and implementing engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement across the data engineering function. 3 Preferred - 10+ years experience in platform engineering and FinOps, data analytics, and visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI and Sigma. Building data products, semantic models and/or AI Agents Preferred Qualifications 3 Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. 3 Master's degree in Information Systems, Analytics, Finance, or a related field. 3 Experience in enterprise application administration, financial systems, data integration, business intelligence, IT financial management, or technology cost modeling. 3 Experience operating data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, reporting, and controlled production processes. 3 Knowledge of general-ledger data, budgets, forecasts, cost centers, accounts, cost pools, allocation, and total-cost-of-ownership concepts. 3 Advanced spreadsheet, data-transformation, query, reporting, and technical-documentation skills. 3 Ability to troubleshoot complex data, model, access, processing, and reporting issues. 3 Hands-on experience with Apptio administration, Cost Transparency, Planning, data ingestion, allocation modeling, reporting, or a comparable platform. 3 Apptio product certification, preferably at hire or within 12 months. 3 Certified Technology Business Management Executive or equivalent TBM credential. 3 Data integration, business intelligence, or cloud-platform certification. 3 FinOps Certified Practitioner. 3 Knowledge of TBM taxonomy, Apptio data architecture, integration patterns, access controls, and data-quality practices. Key Responsibilities 3 Administer Apptio environments, configuration, user access, roles, permissions, schedules, and operational settings. 3 Operate and monitor recurring data ingestion, transformation, validation, calculation, and publishing processes. 3 Maintain cost models, allocation rules, mappings, hierarchies, reference data, assumptions, and approved business logic. 3 Reconcile source-system totals with Apptio inputs and outputs and document exceptions, corrections, approvals, and supporting evidence. 3 Monitor completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency, validity, duplication, and referential integrity of financial and operational data. 3 Troubleshoot failed loads, calculation errors, mapping issues, model defects, access problems, and reporting discrepancies. 3 Build and maintain approved dashboards, reports, views, filters, metrics, and distribution processes. 3 Support budgeting, forecasting, variance, cost transparency, application costing, service costing, and showback reporting cycles. 3 Maintain integrations with financial, procurement, human resources, project, time, asset, configuration, cloud, application, and service data sources. 3 Implement approved enhancements through controlled development, testing, documentation, release, and rollback practices. 3 Support Apptio upgrades, feature releases, regression testing, issue remediation, and production readiness. 3 Maintain data dictionaries, mapping specifications, model diagrams, operating procedures, runbooks, support records, and change history. 3 Provide user support, access administration, reporting assistance, issue triage, and knowledge transfer. 3 Align Cloudability data, cost allocations, ownership mappings, and cloud reporting with the enterprise TBM model.
