We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support documentation efforts for a complex submarine systems environment. This role will develop and maintain technical manuals, operational procedures, installation guides, and training materials supporting system deployment, maintenance, and sustainment activities.
Responsibilities: - Create and maintain technical documentation for software, hardware, system operations, and engineering activities.
- Develop installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and system administration guides.
- Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to gather and validate technical information.
- Document system architectures, interfaces, workflows, and operational processes.
- Support government deliverables and ensure compliance with documentation standards and configuration control requirements.
Requirements: - 6+ years of technical writing experience supporting government, defense, or other highly technical environments.
- Experience independently developing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and software-related documentation.
- Hands-on experience with S1000D technical manuals, XML, and HTML-based authoring tools.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office applications.
- Active Secret Clearance or ability to gain one
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio, or similar diagramming tools.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy submarine systems and military technical publication standards.
- Experience supporting defense acquisition programs and related documentation processes.
