Overview

 The Technical Writer II Engineering/Integration Documentation Support for DUSN (M) claimancy applications, systems and networks for the Department of the Navy Office of Administration (DON OA) – Information Technology Division (ITD).

Responsibilities
  • Provide documentation commensurate with the level of effort required for the tasking. Major project requests shall include:
  • Engineering Project Plan: develop a Project Management Plan (PMP) for all approved Engineering Support tasks. The project plan shall include the project’s objectives, assumptions, schedule, milestones, roadblocks and a work breakdown structure (WBS). The WBS shall be a more detailed list which clearly defines tasks with personnel or section, scheduling, roadblocks and progress. The WBS schedule shall be actively maintained by the contractor andProvided as part of the program’s status reporting process
  • Define Requirements & Design Alternatives: as components of the lifecycle approach, develop a Requirements Definition and Design Alternatives Document. Accompanying the Design Alternative shall be the contractor’s recommendation with the corresponding pros and cons and risks with recommended mitigations.
  • Solution Development/Integration: upon approval of the proposed solution, implement the accepted solution.  seek approval through change management processes not limited to Change Control Boards (CCB) and direct interfacing with the Government.
  • Testing: during the course of implementing an engineering solution, perform various types of tests.  perform “unit” and “system” testing independently from the Government.  develop and present an “acceptance” test plan, Test Procedures, and a Test Report, which demonstrate that all the systems requirements have been identified, tested, and passed.  be aware of the first, second, and third order effects of proposed solutions and include this knowledge in testing.
  • Deployment and Training: plan and provide resources to deploy and provide training on the engineered solution.  Develop section training and the associated training materials, as required.
Qualifications

  • Direct experience of applicable military standards, specifications and test practices is required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and results.
