DescriptionSummary:
The Technical Training Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction, development, and execution of all technical training initiatives across the organization. These responsibilities include designing and managing comprehensive technical training strategies for the organization. This role ensures our Parts and Service employees and support staff possess the technical skills required to diagnose and service the equipment that we sell and service and that these programs align with business goals and elevate employee technical performance across all divisions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive technical training strategy that supports company-wide goals.
- Lead and manage the Technical Training team responsible for technical training delivery.
- Collaborate with department leaders to assess technical training needs and align learning programs with organizational objectives.
- Align technical training resources that meet the needs of both our internal and external customers.
- Assist the Training and Development team to administer the Learning Management System (LMS) for all technical training.
- Ensure technical training content is current, engaging, and aligned with company policies, culture, strategic priorities and OEM requirements.
- Work with OEM partners to ensure that technical training needs and requirements are met.
- Develop and manage technical training schedules and resources.
- Assist in the development and administration of the skills program.
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Operations, Safety, and other departments to support enterprise-wide technical training initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate technical training effectiveness through metrics, LMS reporting, feedback, and continuous improvement methods.
- Promote a culture of professionalism that aligns with organizational code of conduct and values.
- Assist the Director, Employee Development and Safety with identifying technical training budgetary needs.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's or technical degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of technical/mechanical experience, preferably at a Caterpillar dealership.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver impactful technical training.
- Strong project management, communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel to various company locations to support training delivery.

Physical Requirements:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
