Job Summary
The Plant Maintenance Technical Trainer is responsible for providing training and instruction on the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment, such as boilers, pressure vessels, and storage tanks. They develop training programs, materials, and resources to ensure that maintenance technicians and engineers have the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively maintain fixed equipment. Additionally, they may conduct hands-on training sessions, evaluate trainee performance, and provide feedback for continuous improvement. This role requires strong technical knowledge, communication skills, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.

Essential Functions
• Diagnoses problems and performs mechanical repair and maintenance to stationary production machinery such as aggregate plants, conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives, and screws. Uses some mobile equipment such as cranes to carry and lift heavy parts into place, uses a wide variety of hand and power tools, and uses cutting torch and welding equipment.
• Inspects and reports condition of above machinery for items needing repair or service. Rebuilds or fabricates parts. Reads technical manuals and may order parts from central stores or outside suppliers.
• Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Conduct fixed equipment efficiency reviews and work with plant supervision to implement and maintain productive, safe equipment operation practices.
• Work closely with operations management, Mine Planning, Drilling & Blasting, and other support groups to improve productivity and safety.
• Incorporate hands-on and Vulcan Way of Operating (VWO) training for plant operations management/supervisors to help identify, improve, and maintain fixed equipment utilization, production, and safety gains.
• Promote "Best Practices and Standards" for fixed equipment.
• Focus on Plant Operators and work with and coach mobile equipment operators as needed.
• Attend training classes to keep abreast of the latest operator techniques and technologies.
• Other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Education
• High School diploma or equivalent .
• Ability to read technical manuals and understand schematic diagrams.
• Certified welder preferred.

Experience
• Minimum of three to five years experience operating, maintaining, or supervising plant fixed equipment. Minimum two years experience as fixed maintenance trainer preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Very good mechanical and welding skills. Ability to work at heights of up to 70-feet or more in various body positions.
• Ability to operate crane, forklift, and/or skip loader preferred.
• Must be fluent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and have the ability to quickly learn and use industry-specific software.
• Must have verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and vendors.
• Ability to prepare and execute training materials.
• Must be fluent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and have the ability to quickly learn and use industry-specific software.

Other Requirements
Approximately 75% of time will be spent in the field and 25% spent in the office. This position is eligible for Vulcan's Fleet Vehicle Program.
• Current valid state driver's license required.
• Knowledge of safety regulation for off-highway equipment is required.
• Extended hours and travel including overnight travel on short notice is required.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment when in and around mine operations.
• Must understand and ensure all Vulcan standards are followed and that any violations of these standards are promptly reported to management.

Salary Range. The pay range for this position varies based on the selected candidate's primary work location as outlined below. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.

- Hanover, PA or Richmond, VA: $75,000 - $110,000
- Havre De Grace, MD: $83,000 - $120,000
- Herndon, VA: $92,000 - $130,000
