Full Job Description

SCOPE:

Provide active, ongoing day-to-day dedicated in testing support. This HANDS-ON position will support Large Tonnage (water cooled) Centrifugal Chiller testing.The Test Engineer will 2manage2 a test throughout the process from test design and planning through execution to completion including analysis of data results andpresentation of the data to external JCI customers. Ideally this individual willpossess multiple backgrounds that include a working knowledge of centrifugalchillers and related test facility operation, and other applicable technologies so theycan singularly manage the testing process for individual test. This position mayprovide test engineering support for standard and non-standard contract witnesstesting.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:


 Under general/minimal supervision/direction, operate with a high degree of independence onindividual projects geared to efficient and successful planning and execution of tests.
 Able to handle several concurrent projects while providing ongoing, day-to-day, hands-on testguidance, test data review and analysis, and interacting with external customers.
 Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
 Able to work in fast-paced, schedule driven work environment. Possess the agility/adaptability toquickly move from one task to another when required.
 Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), as well asInternet software and E-mail is required.
 Understanding of refrigeration systems and concepts

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:


 Interfaces on troubleshooting issues with the customer factory witness test/Operations.

 Plans and executes tests of water cooled centrifugal chillers. The individual:

  • Communicates with the sales engineer to disseminate and agree upon test plans.
  • Creates test request detail of what conditions to be run to meet engineering needs and customer test SQ requirements
  • Acquires and provides input and set up data acquisition software.
  • Diagnoses and resolves issues with chiller if chiller will not operate or meet performance requirement
  • Diagnoses and resolves issues with the data acquisition system
  • Communicates results and resolution of issues with sales engineer and external customer
  • Provides a summary of testing results to product engineering for further analysis

 Presents to customers the design and set up of the lab function
 Presents to customers methods and records for calibration of instrumentation
 Presents to customers an overview of AHRI and Eurovent testing procedures and tolerances
 Works with sales engineers and customers to resolve concerns or misunderstanding in regards to testing
 Participates in the revision of standard procedures, test Standards and processes.
 Uses experience to develop or recommend the development of new procedures, processes or resources gearedto provide more efficient, accurate, or advanced testing services.
 Adheres to the Companys Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BSEE/ME (or EET/MET), or related physical science.


 A minimum of four(4) years direct work experience in large tonnage water cooled chiller equipmentdevelopment testing, including a good understanding of HVAC/R systems, concepts, and diagnostics,as applied to both test subjects and test facilities.
 A background in engineering and testing, with use of a variety of test instrumentation to perform testdata acquisition and data analysis, test troubleshooting and diagnostics, technical reporting, and relatedcommunication at various levels is required.
 Certain related experience may be considered a plus. Specific areas, as applied to HVAC/R equipment:

  • Electronics/software (esp. starters, variable frequency drives, control systems).
  • Sound and/or vibration testing 6 instrumentation, acquisition/analysis software. (esp.
  • General test data acquisition and sensors 6 hardware, software (esp. LabVIEW, National Instruments).

HIRING SALARY RANGE:
 $76,100.00 - $114,100.00 USD Annual (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)This position includes a competitive benefits package.
