Job DescriptionWorking as a Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) Technical Specialist Sr - Mechanical at BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-tech team of people developing innovative products for the Aerospace and Defense industry. Tasks are performed under the general direction of technical leads and functional managers, plus mentorship from MGSE Mechanical Engineering Staff. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, detailed design and drawing generation of MGSE components, and including interfacing with structural and thermal analysis teams and manufacturing teams.
What You'll Do:- Participate in mechanical engineering design of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) and Special Test Equipment (STE) from concept though final delivery for Instruments, Payloads, and Space Vehicles.
- Complete detail designs using 3D Mechanical CAD tools with direct Engineering interface and in team environments.
- Generate engineering drawings per company standards and industry standards following appropriate application of ASME-Y14.100, ASME-Y14.3, etc. and the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME-Y14.5.
- Release and maintain design information such as drawings, product structures (drawing trees), Bills of Material (BOMs), and 3D fabrication files into Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Prepare, submit, and release Engineering Orders (EO's) and associated revisions.
- Provide content for and/or participate in design reviews, customer reviews, and production planning.
- Participate in hardware receiving, integration, test, and certification.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Skills and Education- High School diploma or equivalent plus 6 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Mechanical CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred) including but not limited to large assembly model creation and management along with the associated piece part and assembly drawings.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work from multiple sources.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Skills and Education- Proficiency using Solidworks.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- 3D Printing and Design for Manufacturability experience.
