Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience analyzing datasets (e.g., writing queries in SQL, and designing or building dashboards to track business KPIs and trends).
  • Experience working with business data, reporting platforms, or technical solutions within sustainability, environmental science, carbon or energy accounting, or related quantitative domains.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience managing technical projects through the full lifecycle using agile frameworks, sprint planning, and issue/task tracking systems (e.g., TaskFlow, Jira).
  • Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to understand data architectures, ETL pipelines, and API integrations.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Technical Program Managers on our Sustainability Data and Tech team orchestrate key technology initiatives and data-driven solutions that directly support Google-wide sustainability goals.

In this role, you will lead the planning, technical execution, and delivery for specific program areas and technology solutions.

Partnering closely with program leadership, business stakeholders, and engineering teammates, you will translate sustainability requirements into actionable technical roadmaps, drive agile delivery from concept to launch. Additionally, you will bring data analytics and dashboarding capabilities building reports on core domain metrics (such as carbon and water), analyzing business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and trends, and empowering internal users to build their own insights on our data platforms.

The Global Sustainability team enables Google to build a more sustainable future for everyone by driving strategy and solutions. We drive the development and implementation of Google's global sustainability strategy to further empower action, ensure alignment and prioritization, identify leadership opportunities, and mitigate risks. We drive sustainability strategy and programs on carbon, circular economy, water, product integration, reporting, and employee engagement, while serving as a sustainability leadership advocate internally and externally.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
  • Translate business requirements and sustainability user pain points into clear, prioritized technical roadmaps and feature backlogs.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of specific technical solutions, tools, and data pipelines from concepts through launch. Drive agile delivery rituals (sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives), proactively manage dependencies, and resolve cross-functional blockers.
  • Conduct data analysis on core sustainability domains (e.g., carbon, water, environmental metrics) and build intuitive dashboards and reports to track key business KPIs and trends.
  • Serve as the day-to-day technical owner for assigned live solutions and data workflows. Monitor health metrics, establish operational support procedures, triage technical issues, and drive continuous improvements based on user feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing solutions through process automation, improved data ingestion, and emerging technologies (including AI/ML tools). Lead rapid prototyping and user testing for new solution enhancements.
