Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management, software development, or a related field.
  • Experience with architectural design and technical system analysis.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing software or hardware projects from inception to launch.
  • Experience in designing and delivering programs to meet contractual requirements and obligations within the public sector environment.
  • Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Personnel Security Clearance as a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in a technical field.
  • Experience in a specific domain relevant to the team (e.g., sovereign/air-gap infrastructure, data and AI, security or distributed systems).
  • Experience of program delivery in defence or national security space.
  • Strong track record of navigating high-ambiguity environments and delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and AI/ML tools to analyze program health and optimize workflows.

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Google Public Sector, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, centred on ensuring we meet our contractual obligations and build enduring trust with our clients. You will work with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your role is essential in bridging the gap between business needs and technical execution, ensuring that our products and infrastructure are built to scale, meet the highest standards of development excellence and ensure that we deliver on the promises made, and that our obligations are met.

At this level, you are expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and navigate significant ambiguity. You will not only manage programs but also shape the strategic direction of your area, influencing development roadmaps, maintaining compliance with our commitments and obligations and driving expanded impact across multiple teams. You will lead by example, mentoring junior TPMs and fostering a culture of technical excellence and operational efficiency.

  • Manage milestones, dependencies, and risks across cross-functional teams, translating high-level business objectives into actionable, multi-quarter execution roadmaps.
  • Ensure strict adherence to contractual client commitments across all relevant Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statement of Works (SoWs), and order forms, actively identifying and closing delivery gaps.
  • Implement modern AI/ML tooling to automate repetitive workflows, enhance data-driven decision-making, and boost team productivity.
  • Build consensus across development, product, finance, and legal while refining standard program management methodologies to maximize overall velocity and transparency.
