Overview

Position Summary:

 

This role's main responsibility will be to manage the product roadmap for identified areas by defining and delivering the next generation of insurance services. Will not only develop innovative product solutions but also execute strategic go-to-market plans and cultivate essential business relationships to seize market opportunities. Responsibilities for this role encompass managing the product roadmap, providing mentorship to junior product managers, nurturing vendor relationships, and fostering cross-domain collaboration. The role also entails ensuring that product direction aligns seamlessly with organizational objectives. 

 

While the role will partner with Mercury teams where shared systems or integrations are involved, the primary focus is AIS.

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$101,167 to $204,439 (NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$91,970 to $185,853 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$82,773 to $167,268 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

 

In CA: Typical hiring range is $137,522.70 to $191,003.75  

 

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create buy-in for the product vision and strategy with leadership and internal partners.
  • Shape and own the product tech roadmap with input from senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Efficiently manage the product backlog by prioritizing and making trade-offs between customer experience, performance, and operational load or competing features.
  • Drive decision making and product launches in partnership with engineering, UX, operations, business development, third party vendors and other cross-functional teams.
  • Regularly update stakeholders and customers on the roadmap and product status.
  • Utilize data, usability studies, research, and market analysis to inform product strategies.
  • Establish and track key metrics for product success.
  • Develop clear business requirements and user stories for product specifications and architecture.
  • Work efficiently with engineering team to deliver key product features and manage delivery risks.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience in product management.

Preferred:

  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years product management and/or product design 
  • 5+ years managing complex initiatives from initiation to completion using product management processes and best practices.
  • Experience in defining and implementing product metrics to track performance and success.
  • Experience handling all stages of product delivery.
  • Experience contributing to tech discussions and product strategy.
  • Experience managing technical products or online services.
  • Experience representing various customers and stakeholders during planning.

Preferred:

  • Agency and insurance background strongly preferred 
  • Experience supporting operational improvement, tooling, reporting, or cross-functional delivery 
  • Experience working across multiple teams, systems, and stakeholders 
  • Experience using automation or AI-enabled capabilities to improve efficiency or customer experience 
  • Experience mentoring and coaching other TPMs or providing day-to-day leadership in a dotted-line capacity 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to build ground-up solutions where none exist including all steps of ideation, problem discovery, customer usage, design, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, assess information, and make sound decisions based on data and evidence.
  • Ability to work as a partner and peer to your counterparts in engineering, program management and quality assurance. 
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and drive strategic direction.
  • Strong skills in managing relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business goals and product development.
  • Comfort operating at different vertical levels at the organization including individual contributors to senior executives.
  • Able to develop and present complex problems in a straightforward way
  • Exceptional verbal, oral, and written communication skills.
