Full Job Description
Technical Product Manager, Onshape E-commerce & CPQ Platforms Hybrid - Seaport Boston, MA (2-3 days a week) Job Description Onshape (www.onshape.com), a PTC SaaS business, is developing a completely new Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and design data management platform for professional mechanical designers and engineers, delivered globally as SaaS. Think SolidWorks meets GitHub meets Google Docs. Our office is in the heart of Boston's beautiful Seaport District. PTC seeks an experienced Technical Product Manager with CPQ and/or E-commerce experience to drive the systems that connect Onshape to the way customers buy it: sign-up, sales-led or in-product purchasing, trials, provisioning and entitlements, and the handoff from a closed sales deal to a correctly provisioned account. Onshape sells two ways. Customers can purchase directly in the product, or work with our sales team. Both paths land in the same product, and customers move between them as they grow. Both work today - and as the business grows, so does what we need from them, including an expanding set of usage-based, API, and AI-driven plans. You will define what gets built here, work with engineering to deliver it, and partner with sales, marketing, customer success, and business operations. You will join the Product Operations & Strategy team within the Onshape product organization, working cross-functionally on the systems, data, and processes that no single team owns on its own. This is a technical role in a business-facing domain, and it suits someone who is comfortable in both. Daily aspects of the role • Write requirements and user stories, and review technical designs with engineers • Meet with sales, marketing, customer success, order operations, and business operations to gather requirements and agree on priorities • Prioritize the backlog in Jira and work with engineering through an Agile release process • Query the data warehouse in SQL to investigate conversion, funnel performance, and provisioning issues • Triage problems in the purchase and provisioning flows and drive them to resolution • Manage minor enhancements and business rule changes to our Salesforce CPQ platform esponsibilities • Define how the Onshape product system integrates with downstream go-to-market systems, including Salesforce and our CPQ platform, and maintain the abstraction layers between them • Drive the roadmap for sign-up, in-product purchasing, trial, and provisioning - from requirements through delivery and measurement • Define and manage implementation plans for how new product offerings will be quoted and presented in-product - identifying key deal business rules and coordinating with internal data teams to set pricing and revenue recognition definitions in our product master • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in current deal desk and provisioning processes in our Salesforce platform • Own the administration of our Salesforce CPQ platform • Improve conversion across the self-serve funnel, and work with Business Operations so that what sales quotes and closes provisions correctly without manual intervention • Own the technical product requirements for in-product payment processing • Deliver the product capabilities Business Operations and Finance need for renewals, downgrades, dunning, collections, and deprovisioning What success looks like • Billing, payments, and collections run reliably with the least possible human intervention • Purchases and closed deals provision correctly, and deprovisioning happens cleanly and on time • These systems absorb growth - more customers, more sign-ups, new plan types, and additional currencies - without proportionally more manual work Requirements • 5+ years in product management or technical program management, or providing technical support for e-commerce/CPQ systems • Experience with SaaS commercial systems such as self-serve purchasing, subscription provisioning, entitlements, or billing • Experience integrating a product with a CRM or CPQ platform • Able to understand data and system designs and how systems interact with each other through API and other integrations • Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience analyzing data in a data warehouse • Working knowledge of SaaS subscription mechanics, including ARR, plan changes, add-ons, and usage-based pricing Skills and knowledge most helpful to the job • Familiarity with revenue recognition for subscription and consumption-based products • Experience at a publicly traded software company • Hands-on experience with Salesforce and a CPQ platform • Experience supporting both self-serve and sales-led purchasing motions • Experience monetizing usage-based, API, or AI capabilities • Background in software engineering • Experience with CAD, PLM, or other engineering software Basic Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, business, or equivalent experience This position is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship from PTC. PTC carefully considers a wide variety of factors when determining compensation. The anticipated annual salary range for this position is between $120,000 - 180,000. The salary range reflects a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, candidates may be eligible for a performance-based bonus. Employees also have the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder through our employee share purchase program (ESPP), which allows for the purchase of discounted PTC stock.
