Position overview

Qnity Semiconductor Technologies has an opening for an Analytical Science Leader in the Chemical Mechanical Planarization Technology (CMPT) business. This exciting opportunity is for an emerging leader supporting R&D, manufacturing, and customer issue resolution. The team focuses on advanced characterization and analytical methodology that enable the CMPT business to accelerate innovation and capture market share in next-generation semiconductor nodes.

This position combines hands-on technical leadership with people development and operational responsibility. The successful candidate will drive analytical excellence, strengthen team capabilities, and align laboratory priorities with business needs to support innovation, support manufacturing performance, and drive customer issue resolution.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop team of scientists, technologists, and technicians. Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Prioritize analytical testing and method development to meet business objectives.
  • Drive and maintain metrology stage gate process to ensure analytical rigor and consistency.
  • Provide technical support for multidisciplinary teams for new products, raw materials, issue resolution, and capability development.
  • Build strong partnerships with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and account teams. Communicate clearly to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and outcomes.
  • Partner with the global analytical teams for advanced technical methodology discussion to carry out the analytical methodology development and/or technology transfer.
  • Champion safety through EHS standards and fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement through digital enablement, automation, and laboratory optimization.
  • Oversee data generation, analysis, and reporting; ensure high-quality documentation and development of SOPs for safe and efficient operations.

Required qualifications
  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Material Science & Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical knowledge and skills, including qualitative and quantitative analysis, analytical method development, validation and optimization, and SOP document writing.
  • Experience with a range of analytical techniques such as optical micro-spectroscopy, material mechanical testing, thermo-analysis, polymer property analysis, surface imaging, elemental analysis, chromatography, and/or particle characterization.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and guide teams in applying analytical methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications
  • Semiconductor and/or CMPT industry experience preferred.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills; experience using statistical tools like JMP and Power BI.
  • Strong interest in developing as a people leader while delivering technical results.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and customer facing teams. Experience transferring methods from analytical to QC environment.
