Job Description:

Reporting to the VP Finance, North America the Sr Director Finance, Filler Metals is responsible for being the senior finance leader for ESAB's Filler Metals business, a manufacturing segment generating approximately $400M in annual revenue. This is a full P&L role combining manufacturing finance, commercial finance, and strategic business partnership with plant and commercial leadership. The role owns financial close, FP&A, and budgeting for the business, and serves as a lead finance partner on ERP implementation and broader transformation initiatives. This is a highly visible role with direct influence on the performance of a major ESAB business unit.

Primary Duties

Full P&L and Business Partnership
  • Own the full P&L for the Filler Metals business (~$400M in revenue), from revenue and margin through conversion cost and SG&A.
  • Serve as strategic finance business partner to plant and commercial leadership, influencing decisions on pricing, mix, capacity, and investment.
  • Translate operational and commercial performance into clear financial narratives and recommendations for business and executive leadership.


Manufacturing Finance
  • Lead standard costing, conversion cost, and manufacturing variance analysis across the business's manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with operations on capacity planning, cost-out initiatives, and productivity tracking.
  • Support inventory management, reserve policy, and capital project evaluation.


Commercial Finance
  • Partner with commercial leadership on pricing strategy, deal economics, and customer/channel profitability.
  • Support funnel and growth reviews, ensuring financial rigor in forecasting commercial performance.


Close, FP&A, and Budgeting
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policy and US GAAP.
  • Lead annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning for the business.
  • Drive EBITDA management and margin improvement initiatives, including product/SKU rationalization efforts.
  • Deliver consistent, action-oriented KPI reporting and governance routines to leadership.


Transformation and ERP
  • Serve as a lead finance stakeholder on ERP implementation, ensuring the system supports costing, close, and reporting requirements for the business.
  • Support data migration, process design, and finance-team readiness/training as part of the ERP rollout.
  • Identify and drive process standardization opportunities as part of the broader finance transformation agenda.


Leadership
  • Build, lead, and develop a finance team supporting the Filler Metals business, including site controllers and FP&A analysts.
  • Establish consistent governance, KPI reporting, and review cadences.
  • Act as a change agent, driving alignment to common financial processes and reporting standards.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, including plant or site-level finance ownership.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a full P&L and serving as a strategic business partner to operations and commercial leadership.
  • Strong background in standard costing, manufacturing variance analysis, and conversion cost management.
  • Experience with FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close processes.
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP implementations (SAP preferred).
  • Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence plant, commercial, and senior leadership stakeholders.


Working Conditions
  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
  • May be exposed to varying weather during travel.
  • Domestic travel required approximately 25%.
