Full Job Description
ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR) supports the Federal Aviation Administration, Second Level Engineering Services (FAA SLES) contract. Join our growing team as a Technical Manager in support of the FAA's critical mission in supporting the safest airspace in the world. This is a full-time on-site position located in Oklahoma City, OK at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC).

The Operations Support Second Level Engineering (SLE) Groups serve as the FAA's premiere level Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for National Airspace System (NAS) systems and equipment. SLE is a national organization that provides second-level engineering support that directly affects the safety of the flying public. SLE Groups support a broad range of systems, consisting of thousands of individual pieces of equipment in the Facilities, Surveillance, Communication, Power, Navigational Aids, Enterprise and Weather Systems. In support of NAS systems and equipment, SLE Groups also provide configuration management, hardware and software development/documentation, modifications, direct field support, systems support, and acquisition support.

Technical Managers serve as the contractor's Front-Line Managers and are responsible for providing contractor supervision within each branch/team and must make all project assignments. Technical Manager(s) function as the contractor interface with the FAA Team and Sub-Team managers as well as with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement

All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.
  • Be a US Citizen.
  • RealID Driver's License/ID or current US Passport.


Relocation Requirement

Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK.

Education & Experience Requirement

All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in another technical field, such as Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Mathematics.
  • 6 - 10 years of experience is required.
  • Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is required.
  • Experience in providing hardware and/or software support for electronic systems is required.
  • Management experience of engineering groups or teams is desired.
  • Knowledge of Government procurement and contracting rules and regulations is desired.


Essential Daily Job Duties
  • Set priorities, assign tasks and projects, and provide technical assistance to contract staff.
  • Monitor, evaluate, coach, and develop contractor performance and capabilities.
  • Review and approve deliverables, travel vouchers, leave requests, and training forms prior to FAA submission.
  • Manage contractor performance related to quality, quantity, and timeliness, ensuring personal services are avoided.
  • Coordinate with FAA managers on programmatic issues and ensure required FAA approvals for travel, overtime, and purchases.
  • Oversee contractor training, including developing talent, submitting training requests, and ensuring accurate cost estimates.
  • Submit reports and information requested by the FAA.
  • Take or recommend corrective or disciplinary action when appropriate.
