Job Description SummaryThe Technical Lead Engineer will be supporting the I&C team with Embedded Software Development for proprietary systems and programs relevant to GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s (GVH) BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. Ensuring that the project is properly managed, resourced, and progressing per scope. This individual will work closely with leadership teams to plan and execute engineering projects and lead program reviews to ensure milestones are being met. The Technical leader will help set the technical direction of the team, plus provide guidance and mentoring of junior personnel.
Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities
Responsible for the delivery of high-quality software for the various proprietary systems and instrumentation and projects.
- Provide day-to-day leadership of the Software Engineering team.
- Lead periodic reviews with Project Managers and the broader Engineering team to ensure projects are progressing per defined scope and schedule.
- Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
- Provide support and direction of projects and initiatives to drive productivity through most efficient use of Project Engineering tools.
- Provide support and direction for development of system requirements, performance, and test specifications.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and properly documented by the Applications Software Engineering team.
- Support commercial teams in development of system technical descriptions and engineering estimates for budgetary/proposal purposes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring for the Applications Software team; mentor others in the organization.
- Maintain a broad awareness of the work being carried out within your group to ensure technical excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs.
- Define roles and responsibilities for personnel within your assigned team.
- Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer or software engineering from an accredited college of university.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in embedded C code, including building, testing, and debugging
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent, or preferably team based, system design or technical reviews including interfacing with requirements management, independent verification and validation

Work Locations:
- For the US 6 the preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC or Atlanta GA. (Willing to consider hybrid for highly qualified candidates coming onsite to Wilmington as needed)
- For Canada 6 the required work location is at the Markham Ontario office 3 days a week.
Desired Qualifications
- Significant technical knowledge of the GVH controls platform product line
- Previous nuclear and or other highly regulated industry experience
- Knowledge of common computer languages and software development tools (Version control, IDE 2s, Debuggers, etc).
- Leadership experience in the delivery of complex embedded software products and systems
- A good understanding of I&C Applications Software processes and policies and how to apply them to day-to-day work
- Ability to organize and drive project execution with internal and external teams
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to articulate clearly
- Experience in interfacing with customers
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation in software design, tools, and methodologies to improve team performance
