Senior Java Full-Stack Technical LeadClient: Charles Schwab - Stock Plan Services
Contract Length: 12 months
Location: Phoenix, AZ or Southlake, TX (On-site 4 days/week)
The Role We're looking for a technical lead who can own end-to-end delivery on a cross-functional, multi-platform system - from architecture documentation through production support - while coaching a scrum team on Java and cloud development practices.
What You'll Do - Lead technical design, development, and implementation across a cross-functional, multi-platform application
- Coach the scrum team on Java and cloud development (Spring Boot, PCF, frontend/backend integration)
- Own code quality: reviews, unit testing, and adherence to best practices across the team's deliverables
- Lead proof-of-concept work to establish reusable development patterns
- Produce high-level design, system design, and architecture documentation; secure architect team approval
- Act as security champion - evaluate and resolve vulnerabilities, close security gaps
- Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo) into PCF environments
- Coordinate with offshore development and QA teams as needed
- Advise peers and junior engineers on technical problem-solving and delivery timelines
- Partner with Product Owner, SME, and Business Analyst on solution design
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or related field
- 5-7+ years total software engineering experience
- 3-5+ years hands-on with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST/microservices, and cloud-based development
- Experience coaching junior/staff-level developers
- Strong system design experience, mid-scale to enterprise
- Proven ability to translate architecture/leadership goals into technical design docs and delivery roadmaps
- Full SDLC experience, including production delivery
- Atlassian suite (Bitbucket, Bamboo, JIRA, Confluence)
- Experience with Git-based code management
Preferred - Front-end development experience (Angular or similar)
- Exposure to test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD)
- Hands-on experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry
