Job Summary

The Technical Director, Test Engineering will lead the teams focused on launching various products into production as well as sustaining existing products through end of life. The product mix will span RF products (SW, LNA, PA, DSA, Phase shifter), Front End Modules, mmWave, Automotive, Sensor, and IOT. This role leads a team of engineering managers and team members responsible for overall development of test solution supporting prototype sample requirements, product characterization, qualification and high-volume ramp while driving product performance and specification negotiations to ensure low cost and high quality in HVM. This position will be responsible for developing and executing test strategy and OSAT management.

The position will support products during the entire product life cycle from product definition through product release to end-of-life. This position requires the ability to define development plans and arrange for resources to execute to the plan. This position will directly interface with cross functional teams such as Marketing, Design, Product Engineering, Packaging, Project Management, Reliability, Quality, and Characterization engineering. The position reports to the Sr. Director Operations Engineering.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:
  • Providing effective, forward-looking, and hands-on strategic management and test engineering technical leadership while delivering projects on time. Define long-term roadmaps aligned with the company strategy as well as supplier and OSAT roadmaps and capabilities
  • Manage teams responsible for successfully launching new products into production, ensure all development requirements are met, determine risk levels associated with technical trade-offs to ensure smooth transition from development to mass production
  • Serves as an expert in the field and principal advisor through strong example and training of junior engineers. Aligns technical resources to business priorities.
  • Expertise with test solution development, characterization and qualification for high volume manufacturing processes. Guides architecture decisions that impact multiple products and technology generations.
  • Driving best in class test engineering (hardware/software) practice and discipline in product development. Work with the NPI teams to develop industry leading solution that meet the required performance levels while meeting quality, development efficiency, cost (development and COGS) and manufacturability metrics.
  • Provide direct and indirect management of Test Engineers and Managers responsible for NPI and Sustaining (HVM) at both local facilities and APAC-based OSAT manufacturing locations
  • Set an effective and scalable organizational structure and define clear roles and responsibilities for the group, manage workloads and career development, and set clear direction for assigned projects
  • Establish and maintain culture of accountability, quality, and attention to detail to help reduce quality escalations and risk of non-conforming, excess, or obsolete inventory
  • Benchmarking and optimizing test solution design & development flow to meet and exceed industry standards, utilizing effective KPIs & metrics.
  • Contributing to the development of our business and product strategy. Advise management on roadmap for new suppliers, product competitiveness, and technology differentiation to meet pSemi Business Unit and Operations team goals. Co-lead consolidation and optimization of test solution and OSAT management.


Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
  • 15+ years of experience in Test Engineering with focus on RF, analog, and mixed-signal, 8+ years of management experience with demonstrated ability to deep-dive to solve technical challenges
  • Deep proficiency in microelectronics, RFIC characterization, and automated test equipment (ATE) platforms.
  • Hands-on background with Device Interface Board (DIB) design, probe cards, and load board development.
  • Strong expertise in ATE hardware design, test methodology, failure analysis/hardware debug, and test software development (e.g., C/C++, Python or similar)
  • Proven experience with high-end ATE platforms such as: Cohu (DMDx), NI STS and/or inhouse tester.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive alignment across design, product, and operations through influence and data-driven decision-making
  • Proven track record managing NPI and scaling into HVM, including global OSAT bring-up, ramp support and technical OSAT management.
  • Experience with OSAT/CM operations in Asia, including process control and remote debug
  • Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements on schedule
  • Ability to clearly assess and manage risk, be decisive, remove roadblocks, and empower teams
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical strategies to non-technical audiences.
  • This position requires frequent travel to APAC visiting Murata and OSAT facilities


Education Requirements
  • BSEE required; MSEE or MBA preferred
