Full Job Description
This role requires approximately 60%-75% travel, primarily across the continental United States, typically three to four days per week with no regular weekend travel expected.

We are seeking a Technical Consultant to partner with field sales teams and customers across the United States. In this high-impact role, you will apply your industrial water treatment expertise to solve complex customer challenges, influence strategic sales opportunities, and improve system performance across a range of industries and applications. If you enjoy being the technical expert who helps customers make confident decisions-without carrying a direct sales quota-this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to the broader sales organization, supporting opportunities based on your strongest area of expertise. That expertise may be industry-specific, such as food and beverage, power, chemical processing, or refining, or application-specific, such as boiler water, cooling water, reverse osmosis, pretreatment, demineralization, or wastewater treatment.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Technical Strategy, this role is remote-based in the United States and supports customers primarily throughout the continental U.S. Travel is a critical requirement and is expected to average 60%-75%, typically three to four days per week with no regular weekend travel.

The Technical Consultant plays a key role in the technology selection stage of the sales process, working closely with sales teams as the technical advisor and product advocate for ChemTreat solutions. This person must be able to translate complex technical concepts into practical recommendations for customers and sales representatives, while supporting growth through deep technical credibility and strong customer engagement.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical support throughout the sales process, including customer discovery, solution development, and technical recommendation.

  • Conduct plant audits, system assessments, and operational reviews to identify performance improvement opportunities.

  • Develop technical proposals, treatment recommendations, and customer-facing presentations.

  • Troubleshoot customer systems and treatment programs across industrial water applications.

  • Partner with field sales teams across the U.S. to support strategic opportunities and customer retention.

  • Deliver customer training and educational presentations that build confidence in ChemTreat solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal technical, product, and commercial teams to support growth initiatives.

  • Stay current on industry trends, customer needs, and competitive solutions in industrial water treatment.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you will:

  • Become a trusted advisor to sales teams and customers by bringing practical, credible technical expertise.

  • Support the evaluation and implementation of treatment programs that improve customer outcomes.

  • Influence sales opportunities through technical insight, customer education, and problem solving.

  • Build strong partnerships across sales, technical, and product teams.

  • Contribute to ChemTreat's growth by helping customers optimize operations while protecting vital water resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field.

  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in industrial water treatment, technical service, technical sales, applications engineering, or a related industrial technical environment. Candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered if they bring strong technical capability and the ability to grow into the role.

  • Experience may be industry-focused or application-focused. Relevant industries include food and beverage, power, chemical processing, refining, or other industrial environments.

  • Technical depth in one or more industrial water treatment applications, such as boiler water, cooling water, reverse osmosis, pretreatment, demineralization, wastewater treatment, or clarification.

  • Strong communication, customer-facing, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical recommendations clearly to sales teams and customers.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 60%-75%, primarily throughout the continental U.S.

  • Technical sales experience or experience partnering closely with commercial teams is preferred.
