Full Job Description
About the Role

The Technical Business Analyst supports delivery of the company's API, data, and AI-adjacent platform products by translating business needs into clear, testable technical requirements. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and QA, this role defines functionality, documents API and workflow behavior, and helps ensure solutions are delivered accurately.

This role operates at the intersection of API contract design, write-path business logic, and data-integrated workflow specification. The ideal candidate has hands-on API experience, communicates clearly across technical and non-technical teams, and brings familiarity with data systems and emerging AI-augmented patterns. With APIs serving as the primary write path for all data changes and a broad ecosystem of third-party integrations in scope, the quality of this role's output directly shapes how the platform delivers value.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Requirements & Documentation

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical requirements for APIs, data products, and platform workflows
  • Translate stakeholder needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional specifications
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Engineering to clarify scope, resolve ambiguity, and confirm technical feasibility
  • Own the external-facing developer portal - including documentation platform management, spec imports, and publishing workflows - while maintaining API specs, process maps, flow diagrams, and business logic definitions to a high developer experience (DX) standard for external API consumers. Treat documentation as part of delivery, not an afterthought

API & Integration Work

  • Support API design discussions by documenting request/response behavior, validation rules, error handling, and versioning considerations
  • Contribute to the quality and consistency of OpenAPI specs across the API portfolio, including identifying breaking changes, versioning gaps, and structural inconsistencies before publication
  • Specify write-path API contracts for actions that create, update, or trigger business logic
  • Document external integration requirements - including transformation rules, error handling, and retry behavior - across a broad set of third-party systems
  • Define event-driven flow requirements: triggers, valid state transitions, sequencing dependencies, and failure handling

AI-Adjacent & Data Work

  • Contribute to workflow and playbook specifications including decision logic, validation rules, and state transition requirements
  • Identify fields containing user-supplied data that may reach the LLM as context; flag structural requirements to mitigate injection risk
  • Specify function and tool definitions for LLM use so the AI layer calls defined calculations rather than computing values independently
  • Support audit and traceability requirements: what must be logged, retention periods, and the questions audit data must answer

Quality & Delivery

  • Partner with QA to develop test scenarios, validate functionality, and support defect triage
  • Perform impact analysis for proposed changes to APIs, data structures, or downstream consumers
  • Stay engaged through delivery - review demos, validate behavior early, and confirm what's built matches what was intended
  • Proactively surface security, compliance, and data handling concerns during design rather than after the fact

  • Perform daily duties in line with Forth, LLC Information Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure that information Confidentiality, Integrity and Privacy is always maintained with processing information assets.

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Business Analyst or Technical Analyst role within a software, data, or API-driven environment
  • Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context, with basic awareness of LLM capabilities, limitations, and responsible use
  • Familiarity with SQL and ability to read basic queries
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, and data integration concepts
  • Hands-on experience with API tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar
  • Experience documenting write-path business logic, integration requirements, or event-driven workflows
  • Experience writing or reviewing integration requirements involving third-party systems, including error handling and retry logic
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience in a SaaS, fintech, or client-facing technical product environment
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery practices
  • Experience supporting external API consumers, partners, or system integrators
  • Familiarity with JSON Schema or structured output specification
  • Experience with API documentation platforms such as Mintlify, Scalar, Redocly, or similar, including publishing workflows, OpenAPI spec management, and versioning

Pay Range and Compensation Package

  • $95K - $105K
  • Full-time, benefits-eligible (401K, medical, dental, vision, PTO, holidays, flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, etc.)
