Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Infrastructure Technical Architect to design, architect, and guide the implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise infrastructure solutions supporting cloud-native applications, data platforms, AI/ML workloads, and mission-critical systems. The Infrastructure Technical Architect will serve as a technical leader responsible for defining infrastructure strategies, architecture standards, modernization roadmaps, and platform solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong communication and leadership skills to help customers modernize infrastructure, optimize operations, and enable future growth.

 

Contributions

Responsibilities include: 

  • Design enterprise infrastructure architectures supporting modern application, data, analytics, and AI ecosystems.
  • Define infrastructure standards, reference architectures, best practices, and technical roadmaps.
  • Architect cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises infrastructure solutions utilizing AWS, Azure, GCP, and related technologies.
  • Design and oversee production, staging, QA, and development environments operating in highly available 24x7 environments.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and cloud optimization initiatives.
  • Design scalable network, compute, storage, virtualization, container, and platform architectures.
  • Establish Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and platform engineering strategies to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Define resiliency, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability architectures.
  • Ensure infrastructure architectures align with security, compliance, governance, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical leadership to infrastructure, cloud, application, and data engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Data Architects, Product Managers, Developers, and Cloud Engineers to ensure cohesive end-to-end platform designs.
  • Document current-state environments, perform gap analyses, and develop future-state architecture recommendations and implementation roadmaps.
  • Support DevSecOps practices by integrating infrastructure automation, security controls, monitoring, and CI/CD processes.
  • Leverage virtualization, containerization, and cloud-native technologies to optimize and modernize enterprise platforms.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend infrastructure solutions that improve scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Perform root cause analysis on complex infrastructure and platform issues and recommend long-term architectural improvements.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and trusted advisor to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Present technical recommendations, architecture decisions, and project status updates to technical and executive audiences.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to hold a position of public trust with the U.S. Government.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure solutions.
  • 8+ years of experience architecting cloud and hybrid-cloud environments utilizing AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • 8+ years of experience implementing Infrastructure as Code, automation, and orchestration solutions.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting software development and infrastructure delivery within Agile environments.
  • Experience designing enterprise infrastructure architectures including networking, compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud services.
  • Experience integrating infrastructure platforms with DevSecOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience with identity and access management, infrastructure security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with Git-based source control platforms including GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
  • Experience documenting current-state environments, conducting gap analyses, and producing architecture artifacts and technical recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred: 

  • Master's Degree in an IT-related field.
  • Certifications:
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
    • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
    • Google Professional Cloud Architect
    • SAFe DevOps Certification
  • Experience supporting Federal Government programs and cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Experience architecting solutions supporting data platforms, analytics environments, and AI/ML workloads.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Groovy, or Ruby.
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, or similar technologies.
  • Experience implementing platform engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or cloud operations best practices.
  • Local to the Washington, DC metro area.

The projected compensation range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000.  The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
