Job Description:The Technical Accounting Manager serves as the organization's technical accounting expert, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and supporting compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role researches and interprets new accounting standards, develops accounting policies, and evaluates the financial reporting implications of business activities and transactions.
Partnering with Financial Reporting, cross-functional teams, and external auditors, the position provides technical accounting expertise, supports accurate and timely financial reporting, and contributes to the effectiveness of internal controls and audit readiness.
Primary Duties Key Responsibilities Include: - Researches and evaluates complex accounting issues and new accounting standards, determining appropriate application for the organization.
- Develops, documents, and maintains accounting policies and technical accounting positions in alignment with established standards.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand new or changing business processes and assess the financial reporting impact.
- Partners with financial reporting leadership to ensure accurate and complete disclosure of significant transactions in required filings.
- Maintains a strong internal control environment related to financial reporting processes and procedures.
- Prepares journal entries and supports period-end close activities as needed.
- Provides support to internal and external auditors, including preparation of requested documentation.
- Offers backup support to various accounting functions to ensure continuity of operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job RequirementsEducation: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting; 4+ years of experience in public accounting or a comparable environment; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong understanding of current accounting standards, including revenue recognition and lease accounting.
