Overview
This position is responsible for the direct supervision of hourly and contractor personnel for the installation of all primary substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and associated equipment. This position is responsible for the safety of the workers and the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the work and ensures compliance with all company safety rules, regulations, and procedures as well as all applicable governmental rules and regulations.
This position could be located in Louisville or Lexington, KY.#LG&EKU

Responsibilities
- Ensures all Substation Construction Coordinators & Inspectors are trained and qualified to perform work
within all established safety rules and procedures, government regulations, and company work practices and
procedures. - Supervises the construction, inspection, & testing of transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear,
disconnects, etc., including all associated equipment used in electric substations, ensuring conformance
to established guidelines and specifications. - Supervises the installation and verification testing on new or modified installations of substation equipment
and systems, ensuring conformance to established guidelines and specifications. - Provides oversight and daily coordination of all work activities and ensures communication with all Company work groups (Generation, Distribution, Transmission, Engineering, etc.) to provide assistance with substation construction activities.
- Provides employee development opportunities through periodic job performance reviews and progress
assessments and a wide variety of on-the-job training assignments. - Reviews work order reports to verify accuracy and completeness of labor and material charges and to
- Verify proper procedures have been followed.
- Reviews periodic budget reports and adjusts work plan accordingly. Tracks and forecasts expenses.
- Investigates project variances and reports on causes and corrections needed to meet budget commitments.
- Ensures employees follow established work practices and administers discipline when applicable and as
directed. - Ensures all environmental rules, regulations, and reporting requirements are satisfied.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by management.

Qualifications
Required EducationAssociate's Degree two-year technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience on a year-for-year basis is required.
Requied Experience5+ years Demonstrated thorough knowledge of electric utility work methods, procedures, materials, and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of electric utility work methods, procedures, materials, and equipment utilized by Substation Construction & Maintenance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical substation operations, maintenance, and testing.
• Proficient in the use of computers and software including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and report generation, SC&M software systems and corporate information systems.
