Full Job Description
Overview

We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Quality at our Cary, NC location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, developing and growing a team of capable and dependable software quality analysts and overseeing the development of automation testing, ensuring the quality of Garmin's outdoor product software.

Essential Functions
  • Manage, plan, organize, perform and document software testing and quality activities to meet documented and implied requirements for Garmin's product software
  • Analyze test results and user feedback, and communicate with product development teams to assist in problem resolution
  • Work on continuous improvement of test processes including metrics and automation integration
  • Continuously assess product stability and compliance and provide good visibility to team
  • Continuously evaluate and provide feedback on Garmin's product development process to ensure appropriate participation and empowerment of the teams
  • Participate in selection and deployment of software quality related tools and procedures
  • Ensure optimal communication with customers (internal and external as applicable)
  • Directly supervise various levels of software quality team members by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized coaching, training and mentoring
  • Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the team

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field OR a minimum of 4 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience performing a software quality/software testing role
  • Experience and/or demonstrated capability in leading a software quality team
  • Possess practical experience designing test plans and implementing structured software validation strategies relevant to Garmin's business needs
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the complete software development lifecycle and software quality processes relevant to Garmin's business needs
  • Possess relevant experience creating and executing test plans, schedules and scripts relevant to Garmin's business needs
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment

Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in a hardware product development enviornment
  • Exposure to outdoor adventure products (ex. hiking, diving, cycling, etc.)
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
