About the position

Join the Defence Community Support and Resource Centre (DCSRC) and help guide a dedicated team delivering compassionate, trauma-informed support to Defence community members affected by sexual misconduct and/or racism.

The Team Lead, Response and Support Coordination position provides operational leadership, guidance, and supervision to a team of Case Coordinators who deliver case management, emotional support, and service coordination to clients. The Team Lead is responsible for supporting employees in managing complex client situations, ensuring service delivery aligns with DCSRC policies and principles, fostering a trauma-informed and client-centred approach, and contributing to the continuous improvement of programs and services.

Work environment
DCSRC provides confidential, trauma-informed support to members of the Defence community affected by sexual misconduct and/or racism. The Centre serves current and former Canadian Armed Forces members, Department of National Defence employees, Canadian Coast Guard personnel, Cadets, Junior Canadian Rangers, and eligible family members aged 16 and older. Operating independently from the military chain of command, the DCSRC delivers client-centred, accessible, and confidential services.

The Response and Support Coordination Team provides confidential emotional support, case coordination, and guidance tailored to each individual's needs, priorities, and goals. Using a client-centred, trauma-informed, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive approach, the team helps clients explore available options and access appropriate supports and resources.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

Operational Requirements

EDUCATION

ED1: Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field with a focus on human-centered services, counselling, or behavioural intervention (social work, psychology, criminology, sexology, psychoeducation).
Or
ED2: Candidates who possess a college diploma in a field related to human-centered services, counselling, or behavioural intervention, AND a minimum of two (2) continuous years of recent* experience within a professional workplace setting** directly supporting individuals affected by trauma.

*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.
**Experience obtained within a professional workplace setting is defined as being acquired in the context of employment that is remunerated. Internships/practicums carried out within post-secondary studies do not meet this criterion.

EXPERIENCE

EX1: Experience managing human resources, including mentoring and coaching staff, supporting performance and development, and managing routine supervisory functions.
EX2: Experience in providing support or case management services to individuals who have experienced various forms of misconduct, harassment, or violence.
EX3: Experience in managing relationships with internal and external community partners, including clients.
EX4: Experience supervising a team in an operational or service delivery environment.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

AEX1: Experience managing programs that provide front-line services to individuals in health care or social service environment.
AEX2: Experience in business planning, as well as in the management of human and financial resources, including performance management, and budget oversight.
AEX3: Experience developing and designing programs that provide services to clients in health care or social service settings, including work that supports vulnerable or at-risk populations.
AEX4: Experience developing and delivering outreach presentations or trainings to community members, or external partners.
AEX5: Experience working within the Department of National Defence (DND)/Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
AEX6: Experience working and/or facilitating within a peer support environment, including supporting group discussions, participant engagement, or peer-led activities in a trauma-informed and collaborative setting.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
