Full Job Description
Team Lead - Network Operations

We are looking for a technical leader who will be responsible for coordinating and leading our Tier 2 Network Operations. The network is comprised of all components that are key to providing service to our customers. These include but are not limited to the satellite payload, antenna systems, and ground sites including VSAT hubs. If you thrive in high-stakes operational environments, enjoy solving complex multi-domain technical challenges, and love mentoring engineers, this role offers direct ownership and substantial impact.

This role will contribute to both commercial and US Government programs.

Role

  • Own Tier 2 Network Operations for all operational and under-development customer networks
  • Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of operational procedures for network deployment, routine maintenance, and outage recovery
  • Oversee the team during live incidents, coordinate with mission operations and engineering teams for rapid resolution, and drive thorough root cause analyses (RCA) to prevent recurrence.
  • Eliminate repetitive manual tasks by automating operational workflows and recovery scripts (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Partner with engineering teams to design, refine, and maintain telemetry, monitoring dashboards, and alert pipelines.
  • Analyze incoming customer network requirements and design robust operational solutions focused on maintainability, scalability, and security.
  • Support in-field deployment of ground systems, antenna/RF commissioning, and direct integration with customer networks.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coach team members, and actively assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new teammates

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on technical experience in network operations, satellite communications (Satcom), NOC, or technical support environments.
  • 0-1+ years of formal people management or demonstrated experience acting as a technical lead / mentor to junior engineers.
  • Strong foundational understanding of IP networking (TCP/IP, routing & switching, BGP, VLANs, NAT, DNS) and/or RF concepts.
  • Practical experience using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate tasks or parse network/telemetry data.
  • Proven bias for action-a track record of taking ownership, moving quickly, and solving high-pressure operational issues.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable writing post-mortems and interfacing with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Don't meet them all? Not a problem. Please apply even if you do not meet all these criteria

Bonus
  • Prior experience in a Tier 2/3 Satcom or Telecom Network Operations role.
  • Hands-on familiarity with RF terminals/antennas, satellite payload architectures, and VSAT hub systems (including modulators/demodulators).
  • Hands-on configuration and troubleshooting experience with enterprise/carrier-grade hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet Firewalls).
  • Experience with Linux system administration, network virtualization (KVM), or containerized environments.
