Tax Supervisor to join our team in any of the following office locations
Jericho, NY; New York, NY; White Plains, NY; Chelmsford, MA; Needham, MA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing firm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Running client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget
- Supervising, training, and mentoring staff on tax projects and assessing performance of staff for engagement reviews; performing in-charge role as needed
- Reviewing tax returns done by staff and making recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities, gaining increasing responsibility in review process
- Preparing tax returns for more complex individual, trust, and flow through entities
- Researching and consulting on various tax matters; utilizing tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters
- Responding to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities
- Meeting or exceeding chargeable hour targets
- Punctually entering time and expenses to support efficient billing processes
- Maintaining appropriate compliance with all Firm policies and procedures
- Developing referral sources, which may include involvement in community, social, business, and professional organizations, as well as alumni functions
- Developing understanding of how to identify market opportunities; assisting management in identifying marketing and sales opportunities
- Representing and actively promoting the Firm
- Traveling to client meetings occasionally
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree in taxation or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 4+ years of progressive tax preparation
- CPA license preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Tax software, ProSystems and CCH
- Must be technically proficient in corporate, international, federal and state and local tax, as well as have a solid background in corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, C Corps, partnerships and individual/ trusts
- Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns
- Ability to manage staff on multiple engagements
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, initiative, and leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and consistently demonstrates respect for others
Compensation for this role is determined based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to your relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Salary ranges are provided to offer transparency and may vary depending on final candidate qualifications and local market conditions. Please find compensation information below for candidates residing in the following market(s):
New York ranges are from $100,000 - $140,000
New Jersey ranges are from $100,000 - $140,000
Massachusetts ranges are from $90,000 - $130,000
