Job Title: Tax Manager

*Please note: this position is 100% in-office in Guelph, ON.

Job Summary

The Manager of Taxation will lead a team of Tax specialists in tax compliance, provision, forecasting, audit defense, and tax planning.

Responsibility

  • Manage all Canadian tax compliance requirements including corporate tax filings (T2), non-resident transaction reporting (T106), foreign affiliate reporting (T1134), country-by-country reporting (RC4649), and surplus calculations
  • Manage the quarterly tax provision reporting for global group, annual consolidated tax provision reporting, and financial statement note disclosures.
  • Monitor tax accounts for financial reporting purposes to ensure activity and balances are reconciled and appropriately reflect the Company's tax position.
  • Manage and respond to Canadian corporate tax audit issues and queries
  • Support business units by responding to tax specific queries
  • Participate in special projects/perform technical research as assigned by management.
  • US tax compliance coordination including working with external service providers
  • Assist in the coordination of cash repatriation and financing strategies
  • Assist in the coordination of transfer pricing analysis and documentation requirements.
  • Lead in the development and mentorship of junior tax staff


Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Certified/Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA/CA) designation
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax course
  • Five or more years of Canadian corporate income tax experience, including a good working knowledge of Canada's tax rules on foreign affiliates, scientific research and experimental development, transfer pricing, and profit repatriation issues.
  • Thorough understanding of tax accounting under IFRS and experience working on multi-national public company tax provisions.
  • Broad international tax experience in such countries as Mexico, the U.S., France, Germany, China, is an asset.
  • Industry experience in a manufacturing environment is also preferred.
