Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Tank Farms Mechanical Maintenance First Line Manager (FLM) to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The Tank Farms Mechanical Maintenance First Line Manager (FLM) is responsible for the direct supervision of mechanics, ensuring work is in compliance with Work Control, Safety, Quality, and Conduct of Operations.  Typically reports to and takes direction from the shift manager.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the activities of assigned mechanics that maintain, repair, install and test a variety of systems, equipment, components in assigned areas/facilities.
  • Implements standards, policies, practices and disciplined operations ensuring employees are informed and adhere to rules and regulations.
  • Ensures personnel perform work safely.
  • Ensures that mechanics are trained and qualified for their activities and are physically fit to perform the work.
  • Coaches, teaches, mentors and provides technical and administrative expertise to mechanics.
  • Monitors work performance to ensure quality of work and compliance with work control, safety, quality, and conduct of maintenance, as well as to provide supervisory oversight and guidance.
  • Reviews and approves work packages and lockouts for maintenance activities.
  • Understands and follows current administrative and work control procedures.
  • Interfaces with scheduling to develop accurate work schedules.
  • Informs management of issues or concerns in the areas of planning, scheduling, equipment, documentation, modification, design, and training.
  • Cognizant of assigned on and off shift work activities including responding to off duty phone calls and site visits.
  • Provides relief when other supervisors are absent.
  • Provides support to the preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Communicates with other support organizations to ensure activities are started and completed as scheduled.
  • Performs initial investigations of abnormal events, including the removal from service of equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Performs periodic rounds of the facility to observe mechanic activities and ensure they are being performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Identifies housekeeping or facility deficiencies and notifies appropriate personnel for corrective action.
  • Ensures that mechanics review changes to operating procedures and plant modifications.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline and experience in a relevant engineering, operations, and/or maintenance function; or
  • Associate's Degree or BA/BS in a non-technical discipline and experience in a relevant engineering, operations and/or maintenance function; or
  • High School Diploma/GED and experience in a relevant engineering, operations and/or maintenance function
  • 3+ years experience working on a nuclear site/facility

Additional Information:

  • Deviations to education and/or experience requirements must follow DOE Order 426.2 protocols.
  • Facility qualification process including extensive classroom, formal on-the-job training, and oral board examination conducted by facility management must be completed within one year.

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree
  • Experience with complex mechanical repairs to include pumps, fans, piping, etc
