Schedule: W1 M-F 3:30P-12A; W2 Tues-Sat 10:30A-7P

Pay: $120-125k

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews prescriptions issued by Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
  • Compounds medications/IVs, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
  • Oversees pharmacy technicians engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medications and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
  • Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
  • Instructs personnel and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
  • Assists with end of night inventory.
  • Reviews and files compounding batch records.
  • Call physicians to clarify prescriptions when needed.
  • May be required to garb and don gown and other PPE to enter sterile rooms.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S., Pharmacy) or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited college or university; at least two years related experience as a compounding pharmacist.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Current/Active Pharmacist State License required.

Working Conditions
  • Employees will be required to read small print.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position requires sitting for extended periods of time including majority of shifts.
