Position Overview

The Talent Acquisition Consultant serves as a strategic full-cycle talent acquisition partner supporting Ohio State’s wide variety of hiring needs across faculty, staff and student positions. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment processes from sourcing through offer negotiation for two mission critical units with broad reach across the university.

Working in a complex, large-scale higher education environment, the Consultant collaborates with leaders to understand hiring needs and refine job postings to attract high-quality talent. The role requires a consultative mindset, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to navigate a highly matrixed environment while ensuring compliance, equity, and an exceptional candidate experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

60% - Full-cycle Recruitment Management

Leads end-to-end recruitment for faculty, staff, student and executive level senior leadership positions across assigned units. Creates and implements recruitment strategies and establishes search timelines in partnership with hiring managers. Ensures the university’s recruitment and selection processes are followed, providing consultative advice and resources throughout the recruit-to-hire process. Facilitates a seamless, positive candidate experience. Serves as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, department leaders and interview teams. Provides guidance on hiring best practices and educates stakeholders on equitable hiring practices and compliance requirements. Guides the organization through complex, leadership-level hiring.
 

25% - Strategic Talent Sourcing and Pipeline Development
Designs and executes creative sourcing strategies, utilizing a variety of sourcing channels to deliver a qualified slate of candidates. Builds long-term relationships with passive candidates and talent communities. Promotes Ohio State’s employer brand in all outreach efforts and effectively communicates a compelling value proposition with candidates. Supports workforce planning initiatives by anticipating future hiring needs.
 

10% - Compliance and Process Optimization
Ensures compliance with university policies and federal/state regulations. Maintains accurate documentation and data integrity within the applicant tracking system (Workday). Supports audits, reporting and regulatory requirements related to hiring. Standardizes best practice across all assigned units and identifies opportunities to streamline recruitment processes, tools and candidate experience. Tracks and analyzes recruitment metrics, providing regular reporting and insights to leadership.
 

5% - Miscellaneous
Participates in special projects and initiatives. Manages student employees. Partners closely with assigned partners across HR. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in human resources or a related field

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting in a large, complex organization

  • Strong knowledge of recruitment technologies, applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.

  • Demonstrated savvy with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

  • Demonstrated AI proficiency in sourcing, workflow automation, prompt engineering and consultative talent advising.

The target salary for this position is $103,000. The offer for this position will be based on internal equity, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, and the department’s budget.
