Full Job Description
Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining the electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems of Tomra sorters to ensure efficient and reliable operation. These systems play a critical role in removing defects and foreign material from food processing lines at the Pasco Simplot facility.

The role is performed during the assigned shift and must be carried out in a manner that prioritizes personnel safety, food safety, and optimal equipment performance. The individual in this position is expected to understand overall factory operations and to make sound, timely decisions using good judgment when situations require it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides skilled troubleshooting, repair, and support on the optical defect sorting systems and supporting equipment including mechanical and plumbing, electrical, and electronic aspects.
  • Inspects components of the defect sorting systems and perform the preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Provides troubleshooting support and repair of the plant analytical instruments and equipment.
  • Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information. These responsibilities include providing minimal IT/LAN user support for the factory (including HMI and SCADA computers); and ensures the upkeep & accuracy of data reporting systems such as maintenance CMMS system(s), production MMS, department logs, work orders and supply checkout procedures, ensuring that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conducts daily line inspections of area(s) as directed.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities during plant evacuation or other emergency situations.
  • May assist in training new defect systems personnel.
  • Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.
    • Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.
    • Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of work area.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function safely while representing the Company.
  • Ensure self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Typical Education

High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or certification in a technical field is a plus). Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Relevant Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in maintenance, system support, or a related technical role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, automated systems, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), industrial automation, and control systems.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.


Other Information

  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to able to identify and distinguish colors (i.e. wiring, instrumentation, color codes, etc)
  • Must be able to safely work with and around cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and be able to effectively use personal protective equipment as appropriate for given tasks.
  • Must have their own hand tools.
  • Must have good electrical and mechanical skills, demonstrate a willingness to successfully operate, maintain, and perform equipment sanitation duties within area(s) of responsibility to defect systems equipment, and demonstrate excellent communication skills during a panel interview.
  • Must become qualified within 45 working days of employment in this position.
