As the Systems Engineering Area Manager, Operations, you'll lead the team responsible for connecting the dots across the systems that operate, monitor, and optimize Centrus' modern industrial facilities. You'll turn operational challenges into smart engineering and technology solutions, improve how systems work together, and help the organization get more value from its data. From system integration and process optimization to troubleshooting complex issues and guiding major technology investments, you'll be at the center of making our operations more connected, reliable, efficient, and ready for what's next.
What You Will Do:Lead the systems engineering team responsible for integrating operational applications, controls, data, and facility systems; turn operational data into meaningful KPIs and actionable insights; identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, quality, and throughput; guide systems through design, implementation, commissioning, upgrades, and retirement; lead cross-functional teams through complex technical problems and root-cause investigations; and partner with Operations, OT Controls, Facilities, Electrical Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity, Maintenance, and other stakeholders to turn big operational challenges into practical solutions. You'll also develop technical talent, manage technology partners, set priorities, and communicate system performance, risks, and investment needs to senior leadership.
We'd Love to Hear from People With:- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, automation, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, industrial automation, operational technology, engineering technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineers, technical professionals, or multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience integrating operational systems, software applications, databases, controls, or other industrial technology platforms.
- Experience translating operational or business needs into technical requirements and solutions.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of system architecture, interfaces, data flows, testing, change control, and application lifecycle management.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" level security clearance.
A Successful Candidate Brings:- Experience with MES, historians, operational databases, industrial applications, or systems integration in a manufacturing, energy, nuclear, or other mission-critical environment.
- Familiarity with OT/IT environments, including controls, networking, cybersecurity, operational applications, and data analytics.
- Experience leading digital transformation, automation, predictive analytics, or process optimization initiatives.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license, advanced technical degree, or relevant industry certification.
- Active "Q" or Top Secret Clearance
Pay:Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $108,556 - $180,926. This position is Bonus eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. While the posted range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position, compensation above the range may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience.
