Job Description

Job Summary:

When you're operating a mission-critical facility, everything starts with the infrastructure that keeps it running. Power, cooling, environmental controls, backup systems, and building infrastructure have to perform-day in and day out.

As the Systems Engineering Area Manager, Facilities, you'll lead the engineering strategy behind the systems that make that possible. You'll oversee electrical distribution, substations, critical power, HVAC and cooling systems, facility controls, and other essential infrastructure while planning for the capacity and reliability needed for today's operations and tomorrow's growth. You'll bring together engineering, operations, maintenance, construction, and technical teams to solve complex problems, strengthen resiliency, and ensure our facilities are ready for whatever comes next.

What You Will Do:

Lead engineering teams responsible for the reliability, performance, and lifecycle of Centrus' critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including medium- and low-voltage distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, energy storage, HVAC, cooling systems, and facility controls. You'll develop strategies for reliability, redundancy, maintenance, capacity, and long-term infrastructure growth; oversee system studies, testing, commissioning, and major modifications; lead investigations when critical infrastructure doesn't perform as expected; and drive improvements that make our facilities safer, more reliable, efficient, and resilient. You'll also manage engineering partners and vendors, develop technical standards and investment strategies, build high-performing teams, and work closely with Operations, OT Controls, Systems Engineering, Construction, IT, Security, Safety, and other engineering organizations.

We'd Love to Hear from People With:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, facilities, or another engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in facilities engineering, electrical or mechanical infrastructure, industrial engineering, power systems, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering or technical teams.
  • Experience with critical electrical or mechanical infrastructure in an industrial, manufacturing, energy, utility, data center, or other mission-critical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure reliability, capacity planning, maintenance strategies, or major capital projects.
  • Experience leading complex technical investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action initiatives.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" level security clearance.

A Successful Candidate Brings:
  • Experience with substations, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, UPS systems, generators, emergency power, energy storage, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, or building automation systems.
  • Experience with electrical system studies such as load-flow, short-circuit, coordination, or arc-flash analysis.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, safety-critical, nuclear, energy, industrial, or critical-infrastructure environment.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, advanced technical degree, or relevant industry certification.
  • Active "Q" or Top Secret Clearance

Pay:

Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $108,556 - $180,926. This position is Bonus eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
