Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineer - Tech Baseline RE to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in San Diego, CA.
In this role, you will report to the Triton SEIT Technical Baseline Leads and will be responsible for a broad range of functions within the Systems Engineering portfolio including Requirements, Integration, Cyber, System Safety, E3, and configuration management.
Additionally, you will support the Triton Technical Baseline Lead working across the Enterprise to support production, sustainment, and development. You will be responsible for coordination and collaboration with diverse engineering design teams to provide imaginative, technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems in support of programmatic milestones.
The role requires you to support the Technical Baseline Lead by effectively coordinating across programs and IPTs to ensure the maintenance of the technical baseline. This involves supporting the Hardware/Software Compatibility Matrix (HSCM) and Independently Loadable Data Set (ILDS) as well as development and refinement of technical configuration processes.
This role will ensure configuration within the Triton system in lab assets, in production assets, and in the fielded system. The position requires on site work a minimum of 2 days per week and must be within a commutable distance from the San Diego site.
Essential Duties will include:
Provide horizontal integration skill across SW and Test teams
Coordinate & collaborate with Triton Production Lead
Technical support and interface with SEIT technical teams, including Integration, Cyber, Safety and E3
Support the development and management of the Hardware/Software Compatibility Matrix (HSCM) and Independent Loadable Document Set (ILDS) and interfacing directly with NAVAIR customer
Coordinate across Triton program sites such as NAS Pax River, NAS Jacksonville, Palmdale and Rancho Bernardo to ensure appropriate configuration documentation and media delivered to each site
Interface directly with NAVAIR customer to coordinate process and ensure GFx deliveries are properly captured in baseline documentation
Coordinating with Triton Sustainment team for Engineering Change Process (ECP) releases and updates
Will work heavily in Microsoft Excel, using its tools to optimize workflows
This role can be filled at either the Principal or Senior Principal Level based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
At the Principal Level:
Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least 3 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 1 year of relevant military / professional / academic experience
At the Senior Principal Level:
Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 8 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least 6 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 4 years of relevant military / professional experience
At Both Levels:
Must have previous experience in configuration management
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active US Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
Experience in drawing release process with technical baseline; specifically technical configuration management of HSCM and ILDS
Familiarity with TeamCenter
Experience developing proposals
Demonstrated cross functional leadership and coordination skills
Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills
Project organizational skills and personnel leadership skills – both direct and non-direct reports
Final US Government Top Secret Clearance
Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,000.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
