Systems Engineer / Systems Architect - Model-Based Systems (MBSE)
Position Summary

C5T is seeking a Systems Engineer / Systems Architect - Model-Based Systems (MBSE) to support enterprise modernization initiatives for the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS). The successful candidate will help define digital engineering strategy, develop system architectures, and collaborate with government and contractor teams supporting mission-critical transportation capabilities. This role is ideal for experienced systems engineers looking to expand their Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) expertise within an established digital engineering community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead development and maintenance of operational, business, system, data, and integration architectures using MBSE methodologies and DoDAF/UAF frameworks.
  • Develop SysML/UML models capturing requirements, interfaces, behaviors, workflows, and mission threads with full traceability.
  • Support digital engineering strategies including digital thread, authoritative model repositories, and configuration management.
  • Translate operational and business requirements into scalable enterprise solution architectures.
  • Define integration approaches, interoperability requirements, and interface specifications across DoD systems.
  • Establish architecture governance, modeling standards, technical baselines, and design review processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, testing, and program management teams.
  • Prepare executive briefings, technical documentation, and customer deliverables.
  • Maintain compliance with security requirements and applicable standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • S. Citizenship.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years designing enterprise, systems, or solution architectures supporting large-scale IT or DoD programs.
  • Working knowledge of SysML/UML and architecture frameworks such as DoDAF or UAF.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal, and briefing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of MBSE/Digital Engineering experience.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience supporting USTRANSCOM or DoD logistics modernization.
  • Experience with Cameo/MagicDraw, Sparx EA, Rhapsody, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud architectures, DevSecOps, Zero Trust, and DoD acquisition processes.
  • Professional certifications such as OCSMP, INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, TOGAF, SAFe, or AWS/Azure.
