Full Job Description
Lockheed Martin is seeking a dedicated Systems Engineer to support the Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Extremely High Frequency (EHF) systems, Combined Orbital Operations Logistics Resiliency (COOLR) sustainment program. The ideal candidate will inspire a systems thinking, systems engineering mindset while driving systems engineering discipline, guiding and optimizing processes across the COOLR portfolio.
• Provide support to the Chief Engineer on current sustainment tasks and upcoming initiatives, acting as the primary Systems Engineer within the organization for broader systems engineering duties.
• Act as a technical Systems Engineer authority driving early-stage planning, detailed design, implementation, execution, and sustained operations while ensuring clear communication of engineering intent and decisions.
• Lead and participate in technical trade studies and detailed design, collaborating cross functionally with product teams, program management, and customers on all aspects of problem analysis, system technical documentation baseline - including specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), architecture, solution design, and implementation.
• Deliver end-to-end Systems Engineering oversight for COOLR sustainment related technical issues, and actively participate in the Working Groups to align subsystem performance with mission objectives.
• As a member of cross functional engineering teams (hardware, software, test, logistics) to ensure successful integration and fielding of COOLR upgrades, maintaining alignment with the program's operational milestones.
• Enforce and continuously improve standard engineering methods and processes - such as front-end architecture, design reviews, and risk management - to ensure they are continuously applied across the program, guaranteeing mission success and adherence to the engineering baseline.
• Demonstrate in-depth technical skills and drive a mission success culture.
• Provide timely communications with LM leadership with a focus on placing events and issues in the right broader context (e.g. relative risk, impacts and implications) as the technical execution quality conscious of the program Engineering Practices.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Significant experience in a complex engineering role with focus on Satellite Communications and Ground systems
• Active and current Secret Clearance required. Thus US Citizenship is required

• Strong mission and end-to-end systems expertise: system, space and ground integration supporting Satellite Sustainment Operations
• Proven experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate into action and results
• Adept at comprehending new technical ideas with ability to communicate complex concepts at different levels
• Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex technical issues / challenges
• Familiarity with LM Space Engineering processes and command media
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building relationships with customers and team members

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $109,200 - $192,510. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
