Required Education and Experience

Position Overview

The Systems Engineer will support the CMS Solutions Group within the Integrated Solutions Division and will be part of an engineering team responsible for system integration, testing, and validation of autonomous truck programs.

The role involves working with hardware and software in HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) laboratories, as well as on-machine testing at proving grounds and test tracks. The engineer will support remote-control, semi-autonomous, and autonomous machine technologies through system integration, validation, test automation, simulation, and data collection.

The successful candidate will help deliver high-quality collision mitigation and autonomous machine solutions while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and support machine-based data collection systems and connectivity solutions across various equipment and operating environments.
  • Perform data collection, system validation, and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable system performance.
  • Install, calibrate, integrate, and troubleshoot cameras, radar, LiDAR, GPS, and data acquisition hardware.
  • Execute system integration, verification, validation, and field-testing activities for advanced safety and autonomous technologies.
  • Develop test benches, test procedures, automation scripts, and simulation environments to support system validation.
  • Perform testing in HIL, SIL, laboratory, proving-ground, and on-machine environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and machine integration issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, test procedures, validation plans, test reports, and technical specifications.
  • Support machine installation, configuration, testing, and data collection activities.
  • Support proving-ground, customer-site, and machine-testing activities, including occasional domestic and international travel.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, controls, validation, and product support teams to deliver reliable and robust solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test processes, data quality, system reliability, and overall engineering efficiency.
  • Apply knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, functional specifications, development, testing, and delivery.
