Systems Engineer to join our team in Annapolis Junction, MD, bridging the gap between customer vision, software engineering teams, and DevOps execution. In this role, you will take full ownership of translating complex operational needs into clear system requirement specifications, architectural designs, and active Agile execution plans. You won't just sit behind a desk writing specifications-you will drive sprint planning, facilitate technical customer engagements, conduct feasibility studies, and partner directly with DevOps teams to keep build pipelines moving forward. The annual base salary range for this role is $172,000-$203,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
Required Skills- Agile Facilitation & Backlog Management: Demonstrated experience leading sprint planning, retrospectives, team meetings, and task prioritization using Jira and Confluence.
- Requirements Elicitation & Technical Documentation: Proven background gathering user requirements, translating complex needs into technical specifications, and authoring system architecture and engineering plans.
- DevOps Coordination: Practical experience interfacing with DevOps and software development teams to capture, prioritize, and monitor technical execution tasks.
- Stakeholder & Customer Engagement: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to manage customer priorities, report status, and address technical considerations with senior leadership.
- Systems Lifecycle Leadership: Demonstrated background guiding system integration, alternative analysis, and feasibility studies across complex software initiatives.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, PLUS
10+ years of professional systems engineering experience OR
Master's Degree in a related field, PLUS
8+ years of specialized systems engineering experience OR
High School Diploma / GED, PLUS
14+ years of hands-on technical systems engineering, requirements management, and Agile project leadership experience in lieu of a degree.
Desired SkillsContainer Orchestration Platforms: Exposure to or familiarity with
Kubernetes,
Rancher, and
Helm for cloud-native software deployments.
Search & Analytics Visualization: Familiarity with
Elasticsearch and
Kibana dashboards for system log analysis and performance metrics.
System Monitoring Tools: Experience with or understanding of
Grafana dashboards for infrastructure and service health tracking.
