THE WORK
Lockheed Martin is looking for a dedicated level 3 Systems Engineer with an active Secret clearance to join the SBIRS/NGG team working onsite in Sunnyvale, California.

This role functions as a satellite factory, Systems Engineer overseeing mission operation projects that contribute to the day-to-day activities of satellite constellation and maintenance and health.

As a Systems Engineer, you will:
• Learn GEO/HEO/NGG space vehicle operations from factory integration & test until decommission
• Be responsible for the daily state of health and operability of the constellation
• Work closely with and rely on the technical analysts (TA), Certified Principle Engineers (CPE) and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to understand and resolve issues
• Support all pre-launch readiness exercises & rehearsals and launch & early orbit test (L&EOT) support
• Apply what you learned to support satellite day in the life (DITL) testing
• Document operational processes, findings, and resolutions
• Identify requirements and supporting execution of vehicle flight objectives
• Identify and implement changes to improve performance
• Develop tools and techniques to perform analysis
• Be a team player and be willing to be on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, as required.
• Work overtime and weekends when necessary to support mission goals
• Travel when required (Less than 10%)

This is an EARLY-MID CAREER (level 3) ROLE where candidates typically require 3+ years of professional experience and a BS degree.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in engineering, computer science, technical, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated Leadership skills
• Familiarity and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members
• Team oriented, humble, and always open minded. Eager to learn from others and focus on the we instead of the I
• Active DoD Secret clearance required for consideration

Desired skills
• Any experience with satellite Launch and Early Orbit Testing (L&EOT)
• Familiarity with any of the following: Unix, MATLAB, Python, STK, Spacecraft Command Language (SCL), and satellite control software systems
• Able to analyze software code/script to isolate issues and conduct perceptive testing if needed
• Able to apply demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve problems and implement constructive change
• Able to compile processes, practices, and concepts to see the bigger picture and what needs to be done to get to the end result, not just what is happening now
• Eager to learn and provide feedback on how to make processes better and more efficient
• Master's Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
• Experience with launching high value Class-A satellite systems

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $102,800 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
