Job Description

SAIC is seeking a highly analytical and holistically minded Systems Engineer to support the Precision Fires program in Huntsville, AL. In this role, you will apply critical thinking to all aspects of the system lifecycle within an Agile development environment. You will be instrumental in driving requirements development, technical documentation, and cross-functional integration to ensure mission success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Systems Engineering & Analysis: Execute end-to-end systems engineering activities for Precision Fires programs, applying critical thinking to resolve complex, system-of-systems engineering challenges.
  • Requirements Management: Develop, analyze, and manage existing and new system requirements throughout the full software development lifecycle.
  • Hands-On DOORS Administration: Actively utilize IBM DOORS (9.7.x) to manage requirement data independently. This includes establishing traceability links, creating objects within modules, and exporting Requirement Verification Matrices (RVMs) without reliance on a dedicated DOORS administrator.
  • Agile Collaboration: Work dynamically within an Agile environment, attending regular scrum meetings and leveraging Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) for requirement tracking and support.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Assimilate and align system requirements with other critical functional areas, specifically Software Safety, Test, and Cybersecurity.
  • Technical Documentation: Author, review, and maintain accurate technical documentation and specifications.


Qualifications

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Six years' additional experience can be considered in lieu of degree (per contract vehicle).

Clearance Requirements:
  • Must possess an active Interim Secret with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required.

Requirements:
  • Strong background supporting systems engineering across the complete software development lifecycle.
  • A solid understanding of, or direct experience working with, systems engineering throughout the Army Acquisition Life Cycle is considered a very strong plus.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with IBM DOORS (9.7.x) for active data and requirement management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) for requirements support is highly desired.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex requirements and understand their cascading impacts on software testing, system safety, and cyber defense protocols.
