Systems Engineer Missile Defense, MBSE & Modeling and Simulation Full-Time with an Employee-Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor On-site in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80 Active in-scope DoD Secret Security Clearance required Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI access required U.S. Citizenship required We are hiring a Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Threat Modeling Center (TMC) at Schriever Space Force Base. This role supports the software development lifecycle through requirements development, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), modeling and simulation (M&S), process development, technical documentation, and system engineering artifacts for missile defense simulation capabilities. The Systems Engineer will work with senior engineers and technical teams to derive system requirements, analyze military modeling and simulation results, develop MBSE models, and support simulation tool development and testing. The position requires experience with Python, MATLAB, or C++, familiarity with missile defense concepts, space-based sensors or orbital mechanics, and an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI access. Responsibilities: • Support capability elicitation, requirements analysis, and requirements derivation for new and evolving system capabilities. • Develop and maintain system requirements supporting software development, integration, and testing. • Assist with the development and refinement of systems engineering processes, procedures, and technical workflows. • Develop and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models and related systems engineering artifacts. • Research and apply missile defense concepts, space-based sensor phenomenology, and threat model trajectories. • Work closely with senior engineers to develop systems engineering artifacts supporting software development and test activities. • Execute or analyze results from military modeling and simulation frameworks. • Perform data analysis, scripting, and technical automation using Python, MATLAB, C++, or related tools. • Develop and update technical documentation, system requirements, and user guides for simulation tools. • Support verification and validation activities throughout the software development lifecycle. • Prepare and deliver technical briefings to customers and stakeholders covering engineering solutions, process development, system updates, and systems engineering artifacts. • Support training and orientation activities for simulation tools. • Collaborate with software, test, modeling and simulation, and systems engineering teams supporting missile defense capabilities. Qualifications: • U.S. Citizenship required. • Current active in-scope DoD Secret Security Clearance required. • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI access. • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline plus 2+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 0+ years of experience. • Practical experience executing or analyzing results from military Modeling and Simulation (M&S) frameworks. • Experience with data analysis, scripting, or automation using Python, MATLAB, or C++. • Familiarity with missile defense concepts, space-based tracking and sensor systems, or orbital mechanics. • Basic understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and methodologies. • Experience supporting technical tasks within systems engineering, software development, modeling and simulation, or related environments. Preferred Qualifications: • Direct experience with Missile Defense Advanced Simulation (MDASim) or Missile Defense Space Tool (MDST). • Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency ground test, flight test, or wargaming events. • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw. • Understanding of Agile and Scrum software development methodologies. • Current active in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI access (TS/SCI). • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency programs, threat modeling, missile defense simulations, or space-based sensor systems.
