Job Summary: The Systems Engineer (Level 1/2) is an individual contributor who supports the design, testing, and reliability improvement of laboratory instrumentation within the Engineering (AI) group. This entry- to mid-level role emphasizes hands-on laboratory testing, design iteration, and risk reduction activities under the guidance of senior engineers. The engineer contributes to resolving performance and reliability issues in a collaborative, regulated product development environment.
Responsibilities: - Execute hands-on laboratory testing (integration, verification, thermal, fluidic, and reliability), including test setup, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and data collection.
- Support senior engineers by executing assigned test, design, analysis, and troubleshooting activities that help reduce technical risk and improve system performance.
- Analyze test data using standard tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab) and summarize findings, observations, and recommended next steps in clear technical communication.
- Support mechanical design iteration by incorporating test results into CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks.
- Assist with identification of potential failure mechanisms and support risk mitigation activities through testing and basic analysis.
- Maintain organized design and test documentation in compliance with regulated product development requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share observations, results, and recommendations.
Experience Requirements: - Experience supporting mechanical testing, reliability improvement, performance troubleshooting, or design iteration in a laboratory or product development setting.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, Analyse-it, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, fixtures, or experimental laboratory hardware.
- Exposure to regulated product development environments; medical device experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: - Able to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity required for handling laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Comfort with performing repetitive tasks.
- Willingness to work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals or biological materials.
- Able to use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Occasional bending, reaching, or movement within lab environment.

Targeted Salary Range: $80,000 to $120,000 annually
