The ideal candidate will analyze mission and user requirements, develop system requirements specifications, and lead the design, integration, and implementation of complex IT and mission systems. This role provides technical leadership across the systems engineering lifecycle to ensure solutions meet operational, technical, and security requirements in classified and unclassified environments.
The Systems Engineer serves as a key technical interface with government stakeholders, program leadership, and technical teams, ensuring the technical integrity of deliverables and successful integration of new capabilities into ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will:
- Analyze user requirements, CONOPS documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
- Analyze system requirements and lead system design and development activities
- Guide users in requirements formulation, recommend alternative technical approaches, and conduct feasibility studies
- Provide technical leadership for integrating requirements, system design, and technology solutions
- Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into existing operational environments
- Develop and maintain system architecture and system design documentation
- Guide system development and implementation planning, including Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs), System Integration and Test Plans
- Interface with government stakeholders regarding systems engineering technical considerations, risks, and issues
- Ensure the technical integrity of work products and deliverables within the systems engineering scope
- Communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to Program personnel, Government overseers, Senior executives
- Provide Tier 3 technical support for Linux, UNIX, Microsoft/Azure, AWS, and other enterprise systems, as required
- Support compliance with DoD cybersecurity, engineering, and operational standards
Requirements
Skills and Experience
The Systems Engineer must have:
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
- 8+ years of experience performing systems engineering in Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) environments
- Strong knowledge of Systems engineering lifecycle (SELC) processes, Requirements analysis and traceability, and System architecture and design methodologies
- Experience developing System requirements specifications, Architecture and design documentation, and Integration and test plans
- Experience leading technical teams and coordinating engineering efforts across multiple functional areas
- Experience integrating complex systems into operational environments
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms and technologies, including Linux and UNIX operating systems, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or other cloud platforms
- Experience supporting Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) or other Intelligence Community systems
- Familiarity with system integration, validation, and test environments
- Ability to support on-call or after-hours operations as required
Education and Certifications
The Systems Engineer must meet the following:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Must be compliant with DoD 8140 education and certification requirements

- CompTIA Security+ CE
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- Microsoft Azure certifications
- INCOSE Systems Engineering certifications (ASEP/CSEP)

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
