Systems Engineer (Expert-Level)

Mission Intelligence Group is seeking an Expert-Level Systems Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across complex GEOINT systems-of-systems. This role supports mission-critical capabilities spanning the National System of Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-Intelligence (ASG), and Federal partners, ensuring delivery of resilient, scalable, and mission-aligned solutions.
Your Role

As an Expert-Level Systems Engineer, you will operate at the enterprise and multi-acquisition level, guiding engineering teams through the full systems lifecycle. You will advise government stakeholders, shape technical strategy, and ensure requirements, architecture, and solutions align to mission objectives and evolving technologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Government in directing requirements engineering, solutions engineering, integration, test & evaluation, sustainment, and analysis across NSG, ASG, and Federal Agencies
  • Lead planning and requirements and architecture traceability to improve, modernize, or automate existing systems
  • Advise on solution design changes based on requirements analysis and emerging technologies
  • Translate mission and customer needs into system and capability requirements and solutions
  • Support the allocation of requirements to systems architecture components and operational programs
  • Perform and oversee systems integration activities across complex enterprise environments
  • Lead and support Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Courses of Action (CoAs), trade studies, and engineering assessments
  • Provide strategic input on technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design
  • Deliver expert guidance linking vision, strategy, requirements, and capability development
  • Operate across multiple Major Systems Acquisitions spanning organizational, agency, and national boundaries
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level Systems Engineers
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience:
    • 4 additional years of experience with no degree, or
    • 2 additional years with a non-STEM degree
  • 18+ years of experience supporting government or industry programs in:
    • DoD / IC Acquisition, Requirements, or PPBES processes
    • Systems engineering of large-scale System-of-Systems or SOA environments across cloud, on-premise, or hybrid infrastructures
  • Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and enterprise architectures
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NSG/ASG and NRO enterprise environments
  • Prior NGA and/or NSG/ASG program or project experience
  • Prior IC or DoD program or project experience
  • Active TS/SCI clearance, with ability to obtain SCI and successfully pass a polygraph
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, tools, and languages
  • Software Development Framework certification
  • INCOSE Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Membership or leadership participation in professional organizations, such as:
    • ACSM
    • ASCE
    • ASPRS
    • OGC
    • SAREM
    • USGIF
  • Extensive experience supporting geospatial intelligence mission environments
  • Experience engineering solutions using:
    • Cloud-based technologies
    • Structured and unstructured Big Data
    • Automation, Augmentation, and Artificial Intelligence technologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Photogrammetry
    • Remote sensing
    • Image science
    • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
    • Geomatics or related fields
