Full Job Description
Systems Engineer - Counter-UAS (C-UAS)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, integration, and lifecycle development of Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS). This role is responsible for defining system requirements, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and delivering integrated solutions that detect, track, identify, and defeat unmanned aerial threats. The ideal candidate will have strong systems thinking, experience with complex defense systems, and the ability to bridge hardware, software, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and manage system requirements, including CONOPS (Concept of Operations), use cases, and system-level specifications
  • Lead system architecture development for integrated C-UAS solutions (sensors, C2, and defeat systems)
  • Decompose high-level requirements into subsystem requirements and ensure traceability (using tools such as DOORS, Jama, etc.)
  • Oversee system integration across hardware, software, RF, and mechanical domains
  • Develop and execute verification and validation (V&V) strategies to ensure system performance meets requirements
  • Conduct trade studies, modeling, and performance analysis to optimize system design
  • Support system-level design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and technical baselines
  • Identify and manage technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies
  • Coordinate closely with engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, software, RF) and program management
  • Support system testing, fielding, and operational evaluation activities
  • Interface with customers, end users, and stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure mission alignment

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline)
  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in defense, aerospace, or complex integrated systems
  • Experience managing requirements, interfaces, and system architectures
  • Strong understanding of system integration principles across hardware and software domains
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Cameo, Capella)
  • Experience with system lifecycle processes, including V-model development
  • Ability to balance technical, programmatic, and operational considerations
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with C-UAS, UAV systems, air defense, or electronic warfare
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion, tracking systems, and command and control (C2) architectures
  • Familiarity with RF systems, radar, or EO/IR technologies
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo, SysML)
  • Knowledge of military standards and acquisition processes
  • Experience participating in field testing and operational deployments
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related field
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one

Key Skills
  • System architecture and design
  • Requirements development and traceability
  • Cross-domain integration
  • Trade study and performance analysis
  • Risk management
  • Stakeholder communication and coordination
