Systems Engineer - Automotive Power Systems

Overview / Summary

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design and integration of automotive low-voltage power supply architectures for next-generation vehicles. This role will focus on 12V and 48V power architectures, systems engineering, functional safety, power distribution, and vehicle-level electrical system integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop 12V and 48V power supply hardware architectures and power distribution concepts for new vehicle platforms.
  • Apply systems engineering methodologies to understand vehicle-level requirements and use cases.
  • Derive power supply hardware architecture requirements and cascade them to individual power supply components and subsystems.
  • Implement functional safety for power supply architectures in accordance with ISO 26262 principles and disciplines.
  • Coordinate with power supply controls to support 12V and 48V power management within the hardware architecture.
  • Support component engineers and suppliers in the development, integration, and validation of power supply components.
  • Support integration of low-voltage power net architectures into complete vehicle systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support system performance and packaging requirements.
  • Support power net architecture adaptation and the adaptation of platform solutions to program requirements.
  • Coordinate and align relevant engineering workstreams.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in the design, analysis, sizing, and verification of automotive electrical systems, specifically low-voltage power supply architectures.
  • Experience with 12V and/or 48V automotive power supply systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience applying Systems Engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience applying ISO 26262 functional safety standards in the automotive domain.
  • Ability to effectively utilize AI tools and methods for analysis, optimization, or problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience with complex vehicle electrical architectures and automotive power distribution systems involving 12V and 48V systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive engineering processes and tools such as Ford Engineering Design Environment (FEDE), Jama, Global Product Development System (GPDS), and Jira.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink simulation tools.
  • Strong understanding of automotive communication.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex technical challenges.
