Uncrewed Systems (UxS), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software.
HII Unmanned Systems is seeking a System Engineer 5 to support our rapidly expanding classes of autonomous vessels and auxiliary equipment. As our new System Engineer, you will assist in the detailed design, integration, and testing of new unmanned systems vehicles. Tasking will include supporting UUV operations, customer outreach and field support, requirements analysis and management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, verification and validation, systems integration and test, and system sustainment.

Location: Pocasset, MA
- Perform system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for UUV systems
- Conduct analyses across all phases of the system lifecycle, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Translate customer or product requirements into logical and systematic system solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Conduct UUV operations at HII and customer locations, which may include operating at with customers at sea on various boat platforms.
- Perform functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies.
- Lead the development and maintenance of systems engineering artifacts, architecture products, and system models using tools such as JAMA and Atlassian.
- Develop system architectures using SysML, UML, and UAF.
- Apply extensive technical expertise and sound engineering judgment to solve complex problems.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams, presenting technical approaches and findings.
- Support and lead integration, verification, validation, and test events.
- Mentor junior engineers in UUV systems engineering fundamentals.
What you will be doing...Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
What we are looking for..- 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
- Experience designing, operating, troubleshooting, and sustaining UUV's and their related systems
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance #LI-MH1
- Ability to travel 20% with potential surges to 60%
Bonus Points for..- Experience with a multi-discipline, engineering background such as Naval Architecture, Aerospace, Robotics, etc.
