SYSTEMS ENGINEER
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
The System Engineer shall collaborate closely with product owners, program managers, hardware engineers, networking and storage teams, system administrators, and customer stakeholders to deliver high quality, service focused hardware capabilities while supporting the Agency's STE/STN objectives. In addition, the System Engineer shall be responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating clear, accurate, and accessible technical documentation to ensure consistent understanding across teams, enable effective knowledge transfer, and support long term system sustainment.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Education: Bachelor of Science
• Experience: 20+ years of related experience
• Security clearance required: Active TS/SCI w/ Poly
• Required skills:
• Demonstrated experience administering Linux systems, including proficiency with command-line tooling
• Ability to develop automation scripts using Bash and Python to streamline operational and maintenance tasks
• Experience installing, configuring, and supporting COTS/GOTS/FOSS software across large-scale Linux cluster environments
• Familiarity with the Agency's STE/STN security compliance requirements and the ability to ensure systems adhere to established policies
• Broad technical understanding of server components, including compute, storage arrays, network fabrics, memory architectures, and database technologies
• Working knowledge of IaC concepts, principles and experience using automation tooling such as SaltStack and Ansible
• Hands-on knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman, and containerd
• Familiarity with Fiber Channel attached storage systems
• Familiarity with Oracle OLVM and its use in managing and operating virtualized Linux environments
• Position Desired Skills:
• Familiar with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• Familiar with distributed files systems such as Weka, CEPH, GPFS, and HDFS
• Experience with the Atlassian Suite of Tools such as Jira and Confluence
The likely salary range for this position is $193,800 - $262,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
