DescriptionThe Systems Engineer 3/4 will be responsible for the team's technical execution, standards, workflow processes, and NASA program/project support. The qualified candidate must be able to provide mentoring and leadership to a team of highly skilled systems engineers in delivery of technical products and associated risks, manage workload, improve team standard methods, ensure product quality control, and provide an example of company standards. This role will report directly to the Systems Engineering Manager.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- System requirements and verification model:
- Use MBSE best practices to establish modeling methodologies
- Provide training and mentoring to develop modeling capabilities with team
- Provide critical review of team product deliverables
- NASA SE project planning:
- Coordinate with leadership to schedule SE team tasks and manage balanced work assignments among team members
- Maintain awareness of team progress and help resolve challenges to keep work progress on track
- Communicate work progress between team members, leadership and program
- Customer interface:
- Act as liaison between systems engineering, chief engineering, and program management
- Cultivate positive working relationships with internal and external customers
- Team dynamics:
- Drive team culture
- Drive team vision
- Other duties as assigned

This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
- Bachelor's degree (STEM) with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years in Systems Engineering methods
- Strong understanding and broad application of systems engineering thinking
- Experience developing and implementing internal standards
- Understanding of solid rocket motor system physics, design and testing
- Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 5% - 10%
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
- Bachelor's degree (STEM) with 8 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 4 years of professional experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Candidate must have a minimum of 8 years in Systems Engineering methods
- Strong understanding and broad application of systems engineering thinking
- Experience developing and implementing internal standards
- Understanding of solid rocket motor system physics, design and testing
- Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 5% - 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of the Systems methods (Requirements, Verification, ICDs, MBSE)
- Engineering leadership experience in solid rocket motor development, qualification and production
- Experience as a Project Engineer with demonstrated experience planning work and performing to that plan
- Experience working multiple programs. Prefer a variety of programs (size, scope, products, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience supporting both internal and external customers
- Employee talent identification and development
- Strong understanding and broad application of PS engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, engineering/business systems, workflow, resource management, product development, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in guiding a functional systems team from product conception through certification
- Defining functional/programmatic risks and risk management

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
