Summary

This job is in the Information Services Division, Office of the Sergeant at Arms (SAA), U.S. House of Representatives (House). Information Services collaborates with House offices and SAA divisions to select, implement and maintain robust and secure hardware and software solutions. Incumbent supports all SAA technological resources, implements hardware and software, administers Windows clients and servers, maintains websites, databases and software applications, and provides technical support.

Job Summary:

This job is with the Information Services Division, Office

of the Sergeant at Arms (SAA), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The

Information Services division supports the mission of the SAA by procuring,

deploying, maintaining and supporting all technological resources Information

wit for the House Sergeant at Arms. Information Services staff collaborate with

other House offices and other SAA divisions to select, implement and maintain

robust and secure hardware and software solutions.

Incumbent supports all SAA technological resources. Duties

include implementing hardware and software, administering Windows clients and

servers, maintaining websites, databases and software applications, and

providing technical support to the SAA end-user community.

Duties:

Typical duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Deploys and upgrades computer hardware and software.
  • Images and configures Windows clients and servers.
  • Manages Active Directory objects.
  • Manages NTFS permissions.
  • Manages VMWare Vsphere virtual servers, including Windows firewalls.
  • Troubleshoots advanced technical problems.
  • Supports and administers a wide range of applications including SharePoint, ArcGIS, Appian, SQL Server and WebEOC.
  • Manages telecommunications equipment, including iPhones and iPads.
  • Supports Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience administering Windows client and server operating systems.
  • Experience managing Windows firewalls.
  • Experience administering Active Directory and NTFS permissions.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and has at least 5 years' experience supporting the duties of the job.
  • Successfully completed Microsoft-certified network operating system training and achieved a passing grade on the related exam(s).

    confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Information Technology Expertise - Knowledge of information technology software and related industry practices to facilitate day-to-day SAA operations and the integration of information systems. Skill in ensuring information technology products, services, and practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements.


Work Schedule:

Full-time, permanent. Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Must be able to work outside of normal business hours - evenings and weekends may be required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This job is based in a typical office environment. Actual weight handled varies, but the role involves handling items including books, documents, and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. The incumbent should be capable of meeting physical requirements, which may include sitting, lifting, bending, crouching, walking, and standing.

Other Significant Factors:

  • Job requires on-call support.
  • Job requires local travel within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
  • Job may be required to report to work in all conditions.
  • Job may require various shifts, extended hours or weekends.
